GB for Salas Folded Simplistic Phono PCB

Just a few more finished builds reported so I can see if there is something to change that would help the builders or not and I will give green light to Tea for the latecomers general GB, no worries.

I have written down some names already. Spreadsheet exists as RO already.

As a current GB status update -
I have now shipped out all remaining board and minikits and 2sk170bl's (which were a hold up).

I am really grateful to have a understanding bunch who were very patient with GB and volunteered to wait. It really helped.

I got an encouraging email today! I am looking forward to receiving boards and parts very soon. The delay was useful, as I finally finished rewiring and replacing the tonearm on my turntable, which I wanted to do before starting the project. (err, replaced the old tonearm with a new one that I rewired...) Very excited!

What tonearm on what TT? We will be seeing your progress soon in the phono thread we expect...

Table is an old Thorens TD-160. While I think the TP-16 tonearm is very good, a little while ago I stumbled on a used Thorens-branded Rega RB300. I have always liked those tonearms. I had already fixed the grounding on the TP-16, separating the chassis ground from the signal ground. I wanted to do the same on the Rega, and decided to rewire it at the same time. I'm not convinced now that was a good idea, but I would probably be thinking about it if I hadn't...

Of course, that also meant making or buying a new arm board (different mounting distance); I found a guy in Switzerland with a few NOS Thorens arm boards for the Rega arms, and got one. Also picked up a VTA adjuster. But mounting the arm board also required modifying the steel sub-chassis to take the arm pillar in a new location. So finally got it all swapped over. It still wants a few tweaks, but is sounding pretty good with my Signet MM cart. Now I just need to build the MC phono preamp so I can use my old Ortofon MC15 Super Mk II!

Sorry for the OT.

Hi Tea-Bag,

Wait list me for the next GB if possible.

Done.
People on wait list will have to add on any extra's I provide for the GB except the board. ie Minikit, 2SK's. possibly more elna caps and heatsinks.

The heatsinks and caps certainly were a tough shipping item, I still did not charge enough. So pricing will go up on them unfortunately, and may only make sense to purchase if other avenues are more expensive.

:soapbox:

Hi Mike

Did not charge enough?

Sorry to hear it

I've organised smaller GB's and ended up being out of pocket.🙁

So

I’d be happy to chip in some more cash if that helps as it seems a little unfair to do all of the work and then come up short on the cash.🙂

Let me know the short fall for my parts GB and I’ll send you some cash.😎
