The AK4490 has five different build in filters. @Jens can the be switched somehow in the RTX6001, if not which one is chosen?
I also prefer the RTX6001 as DAC currently over my Soekris DAM 1021. However the most obvious differences are at high levels ... I have some hope that this can be fixed (perhaps filter clipping..??) But that gets OT now.

Paul BC. Did adding the heat sinks make any material difference, other than long term reliability of course?
Very excited to give it a try this weekend. Sounds like it's both an excellent DAC and measurement tool.
If my software can support using different cards for input and output, I am going to try and measure some DACs on hand.
You may have to run two instances of the software. I have done that sometimes with audioTester. One instance can connect to the device under test and the other instance can connect to the RTX6001.
JensH, can I loop back the unbalanced output to balanced input using the #17 wiring configuration you refer to?
I don’t have the Soekris DAM 1021, but I have a few sound cards running on USB power which are quite good, and do not differ too much to result in a strong preference, but the RTX really is in a different category. Going back to the other sound cards is really hard. The only thing I can think of to do in the future is to do measurements for FIR filters to compensate the amps and speakers directly using the exact setup.
Yes, you can do that. Of course, using balanced all the way is preferable, but not always possible.

I noticed the chassis does get warm. Noticeable especially when it is cold. Is there a better way to heat sink this or is this fine keeping it on 24 hours for a few days?
