GB for DC coupled B1 buffer with shunt PSUs

Considering the idea of merging a Mesmerize board and a Blue Hypno to produce a Hod Rod DCB1 with input selectors. Should I cut them at the shunt reg and use the B1 & selectors from the Mez, or what?

I guess what I'm asking is..what's the difference between black & Blue edition apart from the Hot Rod Shunt Reg?

I know, I know, terrible waste and all...but it would be my best solution.

Why not?
The B1 section is unchanged, except more copper below, which is less an issue here. Get out the hacksaw.

Funny, I have that exact kit, all working in my current pre-amp. Works very well, build was simple, and what a bargain! Problem is, it takes up a lot of space as it has it's own regulator and transformer. I'm sure I could point to point a switcher from the DCB1 reg, but I'd rather use this nice PCB for small signals.

There are about 15 left.
I dont think they will make it through September.

Wushuliu,

You are right about that! Tea-Bag is going to run out of these real quick! I just think, theoretically, this design takes Nelson's already excellent B1 and squeezes out all the potential out of it! Shunt regulators, dc coupling, all good stuff. I didn't want to deal with the multitude of different kinds of capacitors that one would use in the B1 design and Salas' implementation was just what I was looking for. Now, where is that thread where people talk about what resistors they have tried in the buffer portion of this circuit?😀

I am going to make this a differential buffered preamp, so I'll need to quad match the resistors, which the PartsConnexion will do for a small fee anyway. I want super duper focused and precise imaging. Differential designs will take you there. I'll also be using K&K Audio's U-balanced shunt attenuator, available from their website for $159. I chose it over GoldPoint, DACT, etc...impedance was also perfect for this design ~ 10K.

And the support from Salas and the rest of you is amazing, so gracious with your time.

Thanks again fellas,

Anand.
