GB for DC coupled B1 buffer with shunt PSUs

20V sparklers are fine. 350V sparklers are not probably going to be as friendly.
You are into tubes arent you Salas?
What are you running with your DCB1?

Mainly into tubes. My all time big love is loudspeakers non the less. Right now nothing steady with the DCB1S. Its my handy tests buffer. I use my design 6V6GT trioded preamp that only one member have cloned so far, and I know very little of what he did. Expensive and difficult projects those, compared to JFETs. And I am thinking of ideas for a new High Voltage shunt for it. I will make a MEZMERIZE as a full preamp at a point to keep and remember all of you guys and this trully nice DIY communal effort. But I will ask to keep 2-3 boards of the final versions if there gonna be some surplus left, just in case a friend asks for a buffer, and to have as souvenirs. But I didn't ask from Tea-Bag right from the start since I wanted him to give to all members first, because I feel oblidged since he sent me the Hypno and MEZ evaluation boards, and as he proved very generous, I know he would not accept any money from me for the finals if I had signed up. I don't use PCBs as you know, I am very comfortable with point to point. But HYPNO & MEZ have grown to have sentimental value after being celebrated by our community.

Hey, I'm putting together my bom on mouser and had a few questions.

Which set of relays should I get? 5v or 12v - I think they're the same price.

The caps- 4700uf & 100uf - I'm worried about spacing and getting the correct capacitors - any addition info would be helpful.

The fuses - 115v for NA - I can ignore 230v right?

Couldn't find the volume pot either on mouser 🙁

I've priced up most of the components for 2x + 2x boards ~ $200.

I would go for 12V relays. It is less of an issue for the production boards than it was for the prototype builders, but the 12V solution just makes more sense.

There is plenty of room for the caps. I would go with Nichicon KW or Nichicon PS for the 4700uF/35V and Nichicon PM for the 100uF/35V. The Nichicon capacitor type is in the Mouser Part #: 647-Uxx, where xx is what you are looking for.

12V relay will redue one resistor for reducing the supply voltage (12V) down to 5V for the relay. Less components, less troubleshooting!
Most of the electrolytics of the value mentioned will correctly fit on the pad spacings. Better to good quality Alps or better than the alps stepped attenuator as this component is on the signal path. The quality of the Pot affects the final quality of this buffer! Looks like Light speed attenuator is the best reported here on this thread.

Has anybody thought about an enclosure design for the Mezmerize?

ps & six inputs & one output on the back - volume knob & input selector & power on LED on the front - enough room for the pcb and the xformer.

I prefer a narrow and deep design over a wide one even though that collides with having a pcb mounted potentiometer.

Any ideas for a good starting point?

Using 12V relays will reduce L7812 heat
Caps Spacing (footprint) are in the BOM : 7.5mm for 4700uF - 5mm for 100uF
Jean-Paul seems to prefer Panasonic FC 😉
For safety reasons, I'll increase voltage rating to 35v for 4700uF.
Using 105° caps will extend their lifetime.
Fuses values are pointed for 115v and 230v use, depends on your location. 🙄
