Magura 🙂
Look more carefully. there are several shown with shorter rear pins than front ones.
Re: 2sk389
Bought some from them a month ago. Just missed out on getting some J109BL's from them. They sold all their 109's and a whole wack of 389's to an oem manufacturer just days before my order according to the guy at bluestar. He said that he is trying to get more.
Found some 109's elsewhere but they too are no longer available.

just a note Bluestar had over 2000 pcs of J190BL's and over 4000 pcs of the 389BL's when I first found their site 23 months ago.

eBay has both K389BL and J109GR forsale for hefty sum of money 🙄.
I make do with 20 pairs of K170BL and J79BL, and got 2 sets of 4 way IDSS match to 0.2~0.3mA. Not too bad 😎 .

Re: 2sk389
I'd buy from B&D at those prices, as at least you get a nice price break for multiple quantities. I believe they'll get them in this month...

Ok lets together team, go.. go.. go..
all the best,
a'af
Hopefully a'af will honour his agreement.
I sounded some concerns earlier and it is unfortunate what has happened.
As others have said the alarm bells should have gone off when the bags of parts arrived. Were samples requested for testing priory to securing the order or were they tested prior to shipping? Obviously not.
I recently looked at a wholesale parts buying web page in HK and found parts as low as $US0.32 for 2SK389 to as high as US10.00 each. The average price was US$2.00. Tens of thousands of this item were listed. Thats a lot of fraudulent activity when apparently this stock had been out of production since 2003-04.
The spam that followed was incredible and an attempt to send funds for a small trial trade proved fatal.
Its just not worth the risk attempting to buy volume on these parts as it attracts fraud and you have no way of telling what you will get until the parts arrive. These are protections plans but the cost of membership outweighs the cost of the orders until you plan to spend $1000's per order.
I bought some parts from Blue Start previously and they are quite reliable.

I've bougth a lot of Jffets over the past year from B + D and all were fine. the last 2sk389's they had were GR IDSS group so i'd be carefull to check they have the IDSS group you want because if you don't you may get an unsuitable IDSS for some applications like the Blowtocrch where as high a V group IDSS s possible is the range you want
Hi Guys
For those in the UK - this place shows them as been in stock at £7 and £8 each.

Unfortunately these look to be GR parts as Idss is quoted as 2.6mA.

I stand corrected 🙂
Ian.
Hi,
There is something amiss with Cricklewoods info there, if they are other than 'GR' IDSS classification, but their stated IDSS is 2.6mA.
I have measured a lot of these over the years and never found one (genuine Toshiba) out of spec., and with such low IDSS anyway, they might not be suitable for most applications.
According to Toshiba's Data Book (1989) which I just checked, the classifications are:
GR = 2.6 to 6.5 mA.
BL = 6 to 12 mA.
V = 10 to 20 mA.
So, prior to any commitment to purchase it would be wise to check this out as 2.6mA is the very lowest IDSS possible for these devices.

I know the data, might be a mistake by whoever fills in the web page.
over the phone it was confirmed to me that they were indeed BL, cricklewood is a reputable establishment so i would doubt they had bad components.
...don't know ...just my 5c worth, might help some.

Re: 2sk389
Bought a pair of 2SK389s from Bluestar off ebay.
I have not tested them but here's a pic I shot of the merchandise if it is of any help..
I actually wanted to join this GB but the minimum was for 20pcs and I only needed 2.
I hope things will be sorted out amicably.
Have a good 2008.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Hi,
I also haven't had any problems with any dealings with Cricklewood, and if they have confirmed by phone that they are 'BL', then (hopefully!) they should be.
As you say, maybe their site needs correcting, but that was what I looked at, and I felt that caution was needed to be sure here, as we have had enough problems already.
Regards,
So I finally got my “FETs”. The package reads “no commercial value”, which is just about the most accurate way to describe its content I can think of.
Anyway, my measurements confirm others’ suspicions that these are most likely bipolar NPN transistors. The characteristics and pin-outs of these NPN transistors are consistent with 2SC3381.
The picture below shows the appearance of original FETs from my private stash and those I got from A’af earlier today. They may appear similar to a disinterested observer but there are telltale signs of foul play that have been already noted by others, namely: cropped leads of different length coated with solder, wrong font style and smudged and misaligned print. I also find it interesting that all parts have the same batch code (8F for K389 and 6E for J109), which is not entirely impossible but rare in such large purchases of identical items.
Since these are not fake FETs in the narrow sense but electrically completely different parts, I agree with Gerd (GKU) that these are most likely some handmade garage-shop devices made with the intention to sell as original product. They may have been even custom-made for this specific group buy (which could also explain why we had to choose between BL and V grades).
I expect a full refund from A’af a.s.a.p. on the basis of his personal guarantee, regardless of the outcome of his negotiations with the supplier:
