Lifestyle in the Western world is a kind of lifestyle that abuses and overexploits the world, especially in the USA (but also in Europe where i live). You don't need a big V8 to get arround, even for long distances (my office is about 60km from where i live, and my car (a german break) has a 1000cc turbocharged 3 cilinder gasoline engine that push 120HP out...). You don't need to eat every day huge amounts of meat (the biggest air polutors of them all is Cattle breeding on a industrial way), ... Resources are limited in this world so we need to use them right. So a change has to come (i think most realise that).
There are ways to do that, but the mind of a big part of the worlds population, mainly the older generation is not ready for that yet. But the youngsters of today are more aware of that and their mindset is slowly changing to a better more durable mindset and lifestyle. But if it's fast enough to avoid big problems, i doubt it. But if we don't change our lifestyle, the ecosystem will force us with more and more natural disasters. That is how it works as it's always seeking a stable balance, and when the balance is disturbed, it tries to rebalance, with brutal means if necesairy. And many see us humans not as a part of nature and the ecosystem, but we are just high evoluated selfconscious monkeys, and are defnitly a part of it. Those natural laws also apply to us, and it's adapt or die!
A global revolution is coming thanks to the upcoming generation reaching the age that makes them old enough to run in elections. Remember I said it, and that and things will change if we make it through the next major drama that sprouted up. I don't believe in nearly as much as I used to. I even notice myself becoming cynical, and lacking patience for the human race generally. I don't like to admit that but I came to a lot of realizations these past few years. I used to be one of the happiest go lucky people you could ever meet. I'd have a much easier time trusting others too, even total strangers.
The pandemic has a way of showing what people are truely made of and it often did. No one gets to hide during a global pandemic. It could be something so seemingly small yet so revealing about a persons true characters.
I grazed, I kept it vague. I'm pushing it a little, I'm sorry. I don't like to be that guy who gets a flowing thread cut down.
In the meantime, the stock market tries to go up today, but at the end fell under pressure to sell.
I remember saying this in the 70's. As a species we lack commitment. Going on about 50yrs to work on the energy problem and still, here we are.A global revolution is coming thanks to the upcoming generation reaching the age that makes them old enough to run in elections. Remember I said it, and that and things will change if we make it through the next major drama that sprouted up.
Here are a couple of sites where you can work out what your ecological footprint is.
I consider our family unit to be environmentally conscious and yet we score 1.4 planets, so we have to do more...by using less..
AVOID, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

I got 7.2 Earths... In a 30m² poorly insulated apartment, driving 130 km /week in a car that uses 15L/100km and I eat meat daily (not that I eay every day, but when I do eat, there's meat involved).
I did it again, and if I was vegan, didn't leave the house, had 100% renewable energy sources, ate only unprocessed local foods, and didn't generate trash, I would only require 0.4 Earths... People in prison have a higher footprint than that.

This article from 2019 talks about CO2 to fuel for $4 A gallon. Time to ramp up?

Sounds like there is a leaker in the organization. No issue with the laws, the geese all took off and left the day before hunting season started!

How clean do you think the electric car battery manufacturing process is? After all, those cars are for the cleaner environment, supposedly.which is also not exactly 'clean'
That's been the case for decades. Look up wars fought in middle-east.but also our security that is at stake.
We certainly can avoid fossil fuel if the alternative is available at equal cost.use less energy to start with and try to avoid fossil.
I'm not sure where you've got that but this link shows otherwise.the biggest air polutors of them all is Cattle breeding on a industrial way
What technology is there right now that can stop or reduce hurricane, drought, heatwave, flood, ... etc.?keep climate change under control
Many things were said back in the 70's, one of them was the coming ice age.I remember saying this in the 70's.

Anyone actually eat a Canada goose? I won’t, my hunting friends say they are strong/gamey and greasy. I have them across the street in the river today setting up shop and guarding their ground for breeding season, their back and squawking again
Only comment on hydrocarbon prices, covid has shown use that life style changes are necessary.
I see some Amish in our area driving down the roads horse, carriage and rubber tires = Hippocrates🙂

Well, rubber is a natural material that can be gotten without the modern tech but Amish do ride bus and eat at McDonald's. How do I know? I've seen them do.I see some Amish in our area driving down the roads horse, carriage and rubber tires = Hippocrate
For the UK and western Europe at least, there is a serious risk of global warming hastening the onset of a new ice age. Many things were said back in the 70's, one of them was the coming ice age.![]()
This is because global climate models have been predicting a future weakening of the Gulf Stream as a consequence of global warming.
In fact, the whole process may be starting already!

Back in my high school in the 1960's I still remember several students owning Honda 50 motorcycles. It was all the rage amongst many students. It was the champ of fuel economy. It had a displacement of 50cc and a range of 225 miles per gallon (thats 1 litre per 100 kilometres). Using colloquial terms it also had a high "chick magnet" rating. It ain't no Harley nor the Norton P11 scrambler (something I owned later). Yet even today it doesn't look all that bad, though seemingly still favouring of appeal by one gender over the other.
I realize that being old and moving slowly in front of a foray of ambitious teenagers is scary and dangerous, the idea of being able to stop peddling and putter home is appealing. However I still doubt that my carbon footprint would pass if I switched over to this form of transport. It seems that those green thumb people having created the test would condemn even those whose form of transport was walking on water.

So the Arctic and Antarctic are quite literally melting, and there's going to be a new ice age in Europe. Yeah right. 😆

It may have passed already. That link shows "November 13, 2003". 🤔For the UK and western Europe at least, there is a serious risk of global warming hastening the onset of a new ice age.

Europe gets a whole lot of heating from an ocean current that may decide to quit.
While the meat is a little tougher and a little more flavourful than a farm raised goose, I wouldn't call them gamey. They're herbivores. Wild duck on the other hand can be very gamey as fish make up part of their diet.Anyone actually eat a Canada goose?
