Finally some veneer
These are the micro Fonkens. I finished them a while back but finally had to chance to get some veneer on them. Not sure about the wood. Local shop has a bunch of veneer packs at great prices. I bough a few and liked this one because of the grain and knots. The pack did not have the name of the wood. 6 coats of laquer and 6 coats of poly. I love the sound of these little guys.

Gorgeous veneer finish....excellent, they look great! ...I'm sure you're discovering these little jewels sound great, too.
My first and second build
My first build were the Lotus^2.
Then I did, as satelite, the Slim Classic GR dCHR-Ken70.
They both perform great.
I use them in a HT setup with the Quartet sdx10 from CSS.
There is a lot of inspiration in this forum. thank everyone for all the great write-up.

Little Boombox with Dayton RS100-4
Just a little project I put together for my girlfriend. Sounds quite nice and is not 'boomy' at all! The TA2020 pushes the speakers more than they want to go though and it is bit of a bummer when at the beach or wherever and friends get a little carried away with the volume knob.
I'm putting together some similar boxes with TB W4-1052's in hardwood cases. It's a popular project, and people are quite willing to pay $250 or so, which makes for a nice excuse to build speakers without blowing out my wallet.

More likely the amp running out of juice.
What speaker?
Did you import that wall-paper from the UK? 😀
dave
They are Dayton RS100's. Specs say that they are good for 30 watts rms and the amp can only really dump about 22 watts in to their 4 ohms, but for some reason I thought the distortion was coming from the speaker and not the amp. Wasn't really meant as a block party machine but rather something to listen to nice music alongside your beach blanket.
The wallpaper is actually "italian wapping paper" which we picked up deserres.

12 W at 1% distortion. About 85 dB @ 1m on peaks at clipping
It is much more likely the amp is running out of juice.

Just an update on my mini portable horn (Pocket Horn), still very rough. testing with a slightly larger Phillip driver & bigger battery (3100mah).
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
I am loving that little pocket horn
Testing I'm keen as to build one are you going to post the design when done

I'm still having issue with BT-Module ground loop problem, high pitch noise when paired, but not a problem when playing. Change the BT-Module name, AT Command don't work, so need to mod the eeprom dump, abit of a pain.
Finally got my self a passive radiator, geez these are hard to come by in OZ. my first experience with passive radiator, still imperfect in many ways and unfinished, need to install volume pot & paint. other than that it's working fine.
SPST switch for ON/OFF & BT.
Input 3.5mm jack & BT, 5v DC input, built in charger, 3500mah Li-Ion.

Very cool! You sure as he'll won't find anything that swank at a big box store or with the party next to you camping or at the beach! Well done.
I guess I should post my full-range speaker pics here. As I am sure you all know, they are the Fostex FE103-SOL limited edition drivers in custom 6 liter bamboo and padauk cabinets. Very, very happy with these, especially after the 100hr break in period! I am thinking of getting a second pair of these made for the office at home but possibly trying folded horn style cabinets.
