Would adding a rectangular baffle that mimics the front of a small book shelf enclosure, "fix" the problem?
It changes the problem. A rectangle without sides may or may not be better. Big bevels or roundovers are needed to minimize problems at the transition.

Tom, you can always paste the link in the text field of translate.google.com, click in the "translate" button and you will get a *relatively* good rendering of the website in your language of chhoice. Not perfect, can't translate images but better that trying to learn Chinese out of a website.
ghpicard & Alvipet, thank you both very much for your help. I was interested in the L. Cao 8" field coils, but they're a little out of reach for now. I genuinely appreciate both of your time and help!

Thanks Dave,
Would a frequency spike or valley help determine the size/shape of the baffle?
tilroh,
Here some examples for baffle and edge with different roundover radius, those are free tools available here Tolvan Data and software.

driver price was $150 SGD, a real bargain for this driver. i had to wait for weeks until singapore distributor (neo) got restock. you can ask for cheapest shipping using singpost, 3times cheaper than regular package but maybe need more time to reach you, around 4-6weeks.
Thanks for the same. For Alpair 10p, SGD 150 is coming around USD 111. When I contacted markaudio Singapore, they quoted me USD 130 for a pair.
Do you have any contact details of your seller?
Thanks,
Saikat

the seller is Neo, i think that only 1 singapore distributor. At first inquiry i get price quote of SGD $180, like yours but at the end I got discount, that amount already including shipping cost.
you might get different discount 🙂

Gentlemen,
Perhaps better to continue the driver sourcing discussion on a different thread or via PM? This is supposed to be the "photo gallery" thread. 🙂

Very nice!
How do you get paint to stick to PVC? I'm having all sorts of trouble with the paint chipping away.
There are many tricks and methods to paint PVC and other plastics. I spent many years in industrial mechanical construction, and the crews had to paint and mark PVC Pipe all the time. This is what we used to do:
1. Lightly wipe clean the PVC with Iso Alcohol, any concentration above 70%, we used 91%.
2. Sand with 150 Grit, clean with alcohol, then sand with 220 Grit to smooth.
3. Clean and prime with Purple PVC Primer/Cleaner, such as Oatey #30796. Larger jobs, feel free to use automotive primer.
4. Apply a light coat of good quality plastic primer, like Rust-Oleum Automotive Plastic Primer. Always read the label of the selected primer to make sure plastic surface is listed (it usually is).
5. For small interior office and warehouse environment jobs we sprayed Rust-Oleum Automotive Paint for Plastic or equal, for larger jobs and open areas/manufacturing areas we used IMRON applied with a gun (after pipe had been sanded, cleaned, and primed). IMRON is very expensive and difficult to work with, if you want a detailed shinny finish.
Will not say anything more about this, as this is the photo gallery...Got distracted and veered of the thread. Hope the info helps!
After cleaning it with alcohol I spray my PVC with this and I'm done. Looks great and never runs.

Beat me to it! 😉 Also, Valspar 'Color Radiance' and 'Project Perfect' series, with the latter's 'crystal clear' doing a fine job [so far] protecting a 2000 Toyota's 'restored' headlights that's out in Hotlanta's weather 24/7.

Crap! Looks like a cylinder is the worst possible shape. B.Brines said he mounted his Scan Speak 10F/8424s in PVC pipe, but he must have mounted the pipe in the woofer box.
How to save it?
Thanks, Mack
If you like the sound, enjoy it. Full range speakers have their limitations anyways. The Tao of DIY-loudspeaker construction is that what matters is not the end result, but what you have learned from it. For little money, you can buy a measuring mike and see for yourself what the effect is of enclosure shape on loudspeaker performance.

Thanks but I've measured it and the graph looks like crap as well.
I'll fix the sound by putting a baffle in front, which will hide the copper pipe look 🙁
Looks great and I like the idea for mounting the binding posts on an additional piece of accent wood.
Pluvia 7 in Derwent El70 enclosure and a matching TPA3116 amplifier. Maple plywood on the speakers and solid maple and oak for the amplifier with matching stain.
