FS:B&O ICEpower 200ASC modules - 20PCS

I am ready for powering up my version of the ICEclones, but something is on my mind:

I normally always powers new DIY stuff up with a variotransformer, monitoring the power comsumption, and this was also my plan here....but....

This is a SMPS circuit, and I have read that it may draw heavy current if under low voltage condition and possible burn?

Any recomendations?

snip... But the ASC200 based amp sounds like a live performance: full bodied sound, full dynamic piano sound and we are really listening to music. snip...

I wrote this 2004...

"I definitly don't agree on judgement on class-d amplifier and ice-p in particular.

The general statement that they are ok in the bass but not in the higher regions is soo very wrong. I would say the opposite actually.

I have 500 w mono blocks with 1400 VA / 140000uF and the don't think anything excels these amplifier in the mids and highs. The resolution and the ease in these amps are just breathtaking.

I think You need to audition a proper pair of these amps and I think You will change Your mind.

In fact, I stipulate that within 1 or 2 years, class D will rule the high end !

Other amps sounds like filters compared to these and if You have a not so good pre/source You will hear it.

So what is the difference - the representation of a musical event is so much more lifelike in my current amps than anything I have previosly heard.

/j

And yes - I have compared them to a pair of Class A amps and the only thing that was maybe better in the Class A amps was in fact the bass !

It took as little more than 2 years but anyway.... 🙂

Attention:

Several Visitor of this thread are contacting me about ICEPower modules (which I purchased from a personal contact) and asked for information.

I cant give the information because - the guy sold me his last 2 modules. After building my amp and testing...I am quite disappointed with these modules......at least for full range use.....as Sub-power module more suitable.

So, again....dont contact me because I have nothing for sale and share.

Buy at the eBay seller YFW or try to "mod" some ICEPower Car Amp modules....!

Thanks

lazenna,

it looks like you are having the same problem that I had.

I ordered a pair of the 200ASC on the 24th July, I contacted the seller on the 21st of August, at which point they offered to send another pair, neither pair arrived.

YFW did refund my money (yesterday), but I'm also stuck with a chassis, connectors, etc that I purchased expecting the boards to arrive...

Its a month and i havent received my modules either but already resolved with audiotek aka YFW via email, seen its not only an issue with the icepower modules but also with tubes and other stuff, buyers claim seller wont ship if price is not right. So since its on several different items i actually dunno what to believe.

Btw i began wondering, what ever happen to parcels that go lost somewhere in shipping, their just thrown in the trash/destroyed or sent back to sender when found ?

To calm people down, I did actually receive my items. It took some weeks, but I received them.

As for parcels getting "lost" in the shipping, I know of people who lost enough in the mail to send fake parcels. One of the senders was a wind-surfing supplier, who sent things to himself to check. About half the parcels got "lost" A strong suspicion that the postal employees check for interesting items they can use or sell.
I received a parcel which was marked "damaged in shipping".

Interestingly, the cut was nice and just wide enough to allow the inner package to get out from the outter foam envelope. My guess: It was too odd (read: diy stuff) for them to make use of, to they wrapped it up again, and let it pass.

All this is probably of little help to those who are waiting, but at least writing it was therapy for me. :clown:

lost packages / icepower mdules

I am have no connection with the person who sells these B&O boards on Ebay, but I believe that you can't blaim him. I ordered my boards and after 3 weeks they arrived safely. Some other person from Holland had a board with too high DC offset, board was replaced without any problems or words.

Packages seems to get lost, NOT just the B&O modules. How often do you see on for example on Ebay that the seller does not ship to Italy. Reason? Because they get lost in Italy, just like that. I buy many LP/vinly on Ebay and had never any problems (I do live in the Netherlands), but a already a few US based sellers do not ship anymore outside of the US, this because packages seems get to lots, too many at least. Unfortunately some of the buyer does mention it didn't arrive say after one month, they het their money back and yes the package did not get lost, they just told so that it was lost. Seller lost his money and his thing he sold. This happens a lot!
In Holland it is also known that the mail deliverers just think this is something for them and just keep it for them self and just don't put in the mailbox as tehy supposed to do so, especially mobile phones and so. The insurance will pay for the package and seller will send a new one.

My idea about this. If your package is lost, do contact the seller and don't mention it on this forum, people get the wrong impression, now it seems this person is not reliable, I think he is reliable.

I guess he closed down his membership because of the 'positive' feedback he got, feedback that is only partly correct and now his name is blaimed. I would have done the same. again I believe he is a honest seller.

BTW. this forum is full of this nonsense talk, people can do so, too many persons on this forum think they are ..... and can do so, the moderators are not able to interferre in a correct way, they are some lame ducks, no doubt. I wanted to close down my membership already a few time because people are nasty and not correct and simply don't don't think what words can do. Just didn't find the button to delete my account, so that's why I am still here, and stupid enough to reply on some occasions.

As policy, we just don't get involved in trading or commercial stuff unless someone uses the forum to violate a patent, copyright, or trademark. There just is no practical way we can.

Trading Post stuff is like classified ads in a newspaper or community bulletin boards at a grocery store; we'll pull down stuff that's obviously inappropriate, but that's as far as we can go. We don't have 20 international lawyers and investigators on staff.

I concur about YFW - I got several of the modules a few months back, and they were promptly received (for an overseas shipment, about 2 weeks) and the seller was very easy to correspond with via email and very responsive to questions. Package was well packed. Probably should be shipping by FEDEX, though, maybe that would prevent the "lost packages".

Given the chance, I'd order another pair or two - or four - now if I could get that same price I did then 🙂 ! I bought the modules on a whim, just to see how much 'worse' class D amps might be than class AB -- turns out they are considerably better that what I've run into so far. Certainly the best deal I ever made on eBay.
