Free Amplifier Modules

Whoa, I don't feel so bad anymore for not winning.

Also, isn't it a bit difficult to do any critical listening on an amp with just one channel? How does one determine soundstage?

Kinda reminds me of the sound of one hand clapping...

Aha, so they have a reason for the delay - they really should just communicate a bit better. After all this thread was started by Class-D to let the amplifiers speak for themselves and hence generate some good PR for the company instead of the incessant discussion & criticism that they were experiencing in the forum.

I'm glad they are following through on this because I had spoken to Mike at Class-D in the past and he seemed to be a reasonable guy. It was he who sent me the free Mosfets as I said before.

I have publicly congratulated them in the past for bringing such keen amplifier prices to this side of the pond and I am still keen to hear reports about the sonic quality of these amp modules. I'm sure they will find sales from among the brethren here on DIYA, if the amps fare well in listening tests!

It's been a month now since anyone posted something new to this thread, it's all gone very, very quiet.

Did anybody get a free amplifier? If they did, would they be so kind as to give a report here on how they found it. We are all agog to know.

The free module as promised finally did show up! See the attached photos.

It arrived well packaged. The quality looks decent ... much better than I could do with these *tiny* parts. On the rear view the solder did not flow all the way through on the source legs. It should not be a problem as the top side was fine, but one could touch it up if it really bothered them.

There was some white stuff on the board which easily washed away with rubbing alcohol and a tooth brush.

I have not had a chance to test it yet.
