It should not be a problem as the top side was fine, but one could touch it up if it really bothered them.

no, it does matter, because the track connected to those pads is on the bottom side, so if the solder doesn't wick through, the current has to be handled by the vias through hole plating, which isn't right!

I have many professionally made pcb where the vias thru hole plating was the only connection between the top and bottom layer i.e. the component was soldered on one side only!

To be really safe, at these currents, resolder the one needed!

well you should send them all back, as they don't meet any standards!

not even the lowest quality standards.

if they are like that, they aren't professionally made, because a professional would never let a board go out like that!

We have taken this on board and will make sure that all are MOSFETS are now soldered on both sides of the board.

If it is a major issue to anyone, then please send them back and we will re-solder them for you.

Sam.

The free module as promised finally did show up! See the attached photos.

It arrived well packaged. The quality looks decent ... much better than I could do with these *tiny* parts. On the rear view the solder did not flow all the way through on the source legs. It should not be a problem as the top side was fine, but one could touch it up if it really bothered them.

There was some white stuff on the board which easily washed away with rubbing alcohol and a tooth brush.

I have not had a chance to test it yet.

Did you not read the posts above?

Yes Richieboy, I wondered about that myself - why would they send out free modules to some winners but not others? I know at least one winner who hadn't claimed his module & I suspect others may be in the same boat.

I would suggest to those that have not claimed to donate their win to somebody who will use it (no not me!!) - you know this delay casts a shadow over the bona fide of Class-D's offer of free modules.

Maybe Class-D could say how many of the winners have claimed their module although I suspect they have better things to do!

Well I haven't claimed mine but I intend to do and report back. Moving house and starting a new job have put it all on the back burner.

To be honest the modules are such great value for money that if I was thinking about one I'd just jump in and buy it and give it a go. If you don't like it it's no great loss and I'm sure it could be sold on easy enough.

My apology if I have been wrong 🙄

But honestly, to me it would have been the most natural thing to post a complete list with the winners
I mean we can arrange groupbuys which involves people all over the world, and it usually runs sweetly, as far as I know
I think the way this is, its totally inadequate...maybe the new site should have a function fore events like this, to avoid complications and misunderstandings

If some are holding back or even dont bother to make their claim, or not bothered with even trying them and report back, I suggest they consider to pass them on to some who will...I mean, not having made the claim after half a year, then maybe someone else had derserved the winn better

Personally I didnt participate because I knew I didnt have the spare time to try it, or that I would have better things to do

Very thoughtful of you. I'm sure there's a few who just thought woo freebie and had a punt.

Thankyou, but actually its a "2-way street", and the truth is maybe more the fact that I dont want things that I dont care much about 😱
And besides, I have heard things about the module, but its heresay and I wont go into detail, so I just hoped we would get some facts after this
But surely also a reason why I didnt want to waste my time on this...I would rather save a bit and put my money on mr Holton

So, you may see now why I believe some testing of these modules would be nice...they are after all much cheaper than mr Holtons

But just to say thankyou to a freebie...sure, what else, Im just being stupid :clown:
