I think it would work. I used B&D electric scissors the make the foam core ducts for my speakers. They worked fine on Dollar Tree thin foam core. The only reason I tried the RAS is that I have one sitting idle (so why not) and to my surprise it worked perfectly.

Tried the guillotine Turk. It compressed the foam. The real problem though was finding one that could cut something 30" long that wasn't a piggy bank breaker. I'm sure the foam would recover by the next day.
The slide cutters that I imitated are good but it was easier to throw something together than it was to fork out more coin for the tool than the end product. I'm not an economics major but...
Eddie, I am pleased that your RAS worked for you. As mentioned, no luck in Cal's world with spinning blade things.

It's probably due to my blade, it's a pricey Forrest carbide tipped blade hawked by Mr. Sawdust many many years ago.
You know speakers are just too much fun, it's much too easy to become addicted.

so the paper cutter would be like scissors, tried that and it was not good, oh well blades are reasonably priced.
I recall the days of the Hi Fi shows. My boss listened to them all and came way with a pair of Gigolos.
Thanks BP.
I think the funnest one so far was the Penthorn. Not the end all with the sound but most fun to design and build. Yes I made them but without X's inspiration and encouragement to begin with, like all the foam cores, they would still be a dream.
Stunning!
You guys have too much free time....and I mean that as the highest compliment!
Man, I wish I could do half of what I see built on this thread. 🙂

Thanks for the kind words, Cal. I started all of this because I dreamed of making BLH speakers but did not have a wood shop. It’s kitchen table friendly so that’s the best part.
That's one of the 'best' parts.
BTW, are we allowed to use your first name yet? X is so 'mark the spot'

X is the focal point of a vast(worldwide, and so deep) conspiracy to fill the world with devices that spread that most dangerous of influences.................music!
Spot on Cal. I have many X factor stuff in my house and system. It's the X factor. 😉

It wouldn't be fair to use X's logo but it wold be nice to have some sort of badge for our projects to give credit where credit is due.
Thanks for the kind words, guys! Hey, if you want to use my logo on speakers I designed or inspired, please feel free to do so. Interesting tidbit: That cool logo was designed for me by one of our members - He came up with it all on his own and sent it to me one day. Thank you to StellarElephant for the logo!
"First we gonna rock, then we gonna roll
Then we let it pop, go, let it go (what?)
X gon' give it to ya (uh), he gon' give it to ya
X gon' give it to ya, he gon' give it to ya"

I thought I'd do a comparison so I built two different enclosures for the pair of Fountek FR89EX drivers I had. I built one 20" x 3.5" Cornu and one 0.4 Karlsonator.
The Karlsonator sounds really good. I was surprised at how much bass was coming out of that small speaker. The cabinet seemed to have a little flexing and it felt really lively.
But Cornu sounded much better to my ear and with my music. The bass was better, the volume louder, and it seemed to have much more sparkle.
It makes me wonder if I overstuffed the Karlsonator?
When my daughter saw the Karlsonator she said I built a butt-crack speaker. 😀
I'll be building another Cornu to make a matched pair.
