F6 Illustrated Build Guide

See if you like it... See post #1

Remember the 3 rules of maximum bias… stop when you reach any of these -

Heatsink of 55C and/or Transistor pin 2 65C
Total bias , both channels, (in watts) of no more than 1/2 the power transformer’s VA
1/2 the maximum dissipation (in watts) of the output device. In the case of the IRFP240, it’s a 150W device, so no more than 75W. (Which is really, really hot…)

Six months in my F6 is still my favorite Pass amp.

I have an extra set of boards [A & B] I'd like to pass on.

If interested send me a message.

I would ask for $7.00 for shipping, payable to my PayPal account.

What a great amp.

My antek as-4218 is kinda driving me crazy. Anyone have a buzzing issue from the Torroidial? I have tried moving the rubber gaskets, loosening, tightning the mounting bolt but it emits a buzzing noise no matter what. Can this be solved electrically or is it mechanical? Tks

I made what sounds like a similar bracket Mike.
Interesting youagain, I just checked mine showing less than 20 mv
Check out these pictures

Mine buzzez slightly when I start it up but after that, it works fine. Have you confirmed the rectifiers are good to go? Hart to tell how the one on the left is hooked up but I assume it is correct.

How close do you have to be to hear the hum?

Almost done

Hi All,

I wanted to share some pics of my F6 amp. I've been tinkering a bit with the bias/offset for the past couple of weeks, getting the bias up to ~.570mv while keeping the temps under 65C.

I have anti-vibration feet from diy audio store, which I'll install once I have long enough screws. Also, I have the speaker protection board ready to go but am waiting on more hook-up wire from DH Labs to arrive before I can install it.

I've assembled many PC's in my life but this is my first amp build. I learned a lot along the way and couldn't have done it without the community's help. Looking forward to enjoying this amp for years to come and am excited for the next build.

Thanks!
