I had trouble with the unit unbuffered, the source was 150R driving them too, the speakers seem to motorboat. (not hum).
Putting in the 1k/47k helped a lot, but it performed best sonically with the Toshiba JFETs in place. It was hard to go agianst the masters recipe.

My problem is solved!
It was a simple, stupid failure. I connected my pre's signal to F6's ground.
Stupid me!
Now everything seems to be fine. There is a lot of bass and enough gain for my speakers!

Sorry, of course the M2 xformer is much more susceptible for hum, because it amplifies the voltage 5x.....!
The Jensen does not do this, so the position might not so important to care for....!
