Clever! I'll keep it in mind for the next one (supposing I go through this another time). And it looks like this (in my case) for 2 x 400VA Toiroidy transformers.
Metal sheet is at the back (will be cut to dimension and bored for the transformers and bridges bolts), brackets need some minor rework because my build (NON F5m!) is very tight... and ignore the plexi sheet with the metal sheet - they are for an other section of this amp.
I gotta say, Toroidy transformers are nice and compact.
I'm still not entirely clear on the difference between Belleville Washers, Disc Spring Washers, and Conical Contact Washers. I've used one of the latter on the my transformer, as it's the only thing close I could find on the shelf at the hardware store. For my MOSFETs I have the local bolt place looking into M3 Disc Spring Washers (which I think is just the non-proprietary name generally used for Bellevilles that are metric), but they were a bit bemused. It's a country town, so anything that isn't for a vehicle, construction, or heavy machinery is weird to them. I'm the weird guy asking for tiny machine screws all the time. 😂
Donde esta The Build Guide?
Is there a sticky somewhere?
Here you go: https://guides.diyaudio.com/Guide/F5M+Amplifier/29?lang=en
I would say given the forces acting that any washer supposed to have some properties regarding "preventing somewhat the bolt getting loose" is probably fine.
It might be different for transistors though, has heat cycles on top of vibs, but not sure on that... I will use for them what I have on hand aswell, unless told otherwise 🙂
Enjoy your build!
Claude

My experience with the F5m (ACA Mini as well) is that bias will vary with room (ambient) temperature. I see a dependency of about +0.03A per °C room temperature, although my case might not be typical (my build is in a short chassis with internal heatsinks and I use a low-speed fan underneath for cooling assist).I also retested the bias which was now .57 and stable. It had been stable at .52 for a week, so this surprised me.
So consider that if the temperature in the room had varied from one week to the next, there might be a contribution from that.
Assuming you are asking about the F5m build guide, it is available in the Build Guide portion of DIY Audio. I think I’ve copied the link correctly here https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/f5m-kit.408290/
Both the first post of this thread and the DIYAudio store's F5m page now link to the build guide.
I had posted the link back in post #2582, but the color doesn't stand out very well. The link below may be easier to see and read.
Link To F5M Guide
@6L6 kindly added it to post #1 of this thread, and I've now quadruple checked that the link is present and works on the store's project page to hopefully make it easier to find. I may have forgotten to hit "Save" the other day.
Sorry about that.
For those that don't know, the "diyAudio Guide" site is separate but related to the store and the forum sites. It's "Under Construction". We are continually updating the guides and doing our best to create all the new guides using the new platform, but there is a learning curve for dodos like me. It will evolve into a place where beginners and experts alike can find valuable information. The goal is to continue discussions and fun chat in the forum threads, and to have clear/concise, easy-to-find information on how to build projects in the guides. We hear and fully understand that it's very hard to find that one key nugget of valuable information on 'page 500' of a "guide" thread. It's also a lot of work for mods and authors to continually update "post #1".
We'll do our best to let the community know when we've added new guides or made meaningful updates to existing guides.
Thanks again to all!

If I had to run away from the Mods.... which amplifier would sound best in Pago Pago? Upwind from the fish cannery, of course?
I looked at the build guy. I do have some parts.... and it looks reasonable. Might just give it a try to build. Looks like a 3U, 300MM size.
Already have an F5... it was rebuilt, started as a Rawson, so it has that all metal case that Tim uses.
BTW, the link to the F5m kit is bad.... and the "backpanel kit" is sold out...

This is justification to buy ~fancy~ backpanel bits. 💸and the "backpanel kit" is sold out...
How'd I look?I looked at the build guy.

Doooooggggonit. Me and links don't seem to be getting along. Thanks for letting me know. Which link is bad? I'll see if I can repair it. Otherwise, I'll have to call in someone that actually know what the heck they're doing... and that's embarassing.BTW, the link to the F5m kit is bad....
Yeah... I suppose I can post it here, since it won't be "long" now.and the "backpanel kit" is sold out...
New Deluxe chassis on the way... very soon. So, new back panel parts kit that needs to go along with them is on the way too. The 2U in the guide is the 2U Deluxe. The back panel has one eeesny weeensy change, but it's the same in all meaningful characteristics.
As Ahhhhnold would say -
Have fun! It's not like you don't have enough toys, but this amp really is something special. Maybe not for the big Mags at 11, but it's awfully nice. I think it's different from my "normal" F5.

I just checked and both links to the F5M kit and Link to All Guides seem to be working just fine.Doooooggggonit. Me and links don't seem to be getting along. Thanks for letting me know. Best,
Anand.
The links all work now.... before, when I hit the "F5M Kit" under parts, I wasn't loading any thing from the store.... now it loads correctly.
Maybe I was hitting the XA252 protection circuit.
Thanks

^Tell the core that it will do what you want it to do or you will put its DDR one unsigned byte at a time... Usually that will get the memory controller working and suddenly the ethernet starts talking over the PCI bus.

Unless it's Windows and you just corrupted the image in the drive. For that, make sure you got a back up, set it up and then go drink a 16 oz IPA. Or plug in the Ubuntu USB memory stick, boot (), hit %sudo rm -fr / and then go away and get the vodka and tonic water....
(*) Everybody should have an Ubuntu USB memory stick... mine is about 18 inches from my right hand, right above the Nuforce DDA100.

That I can both understand and execute.go drink a 16 oz IPA.
I'll ignore the instructions I don't understand and/or can't/don't want to execute. That seems like a familiar pattern... hmmmm... maybe it's me.

Ideally, give me five minutes.... I tend to edit my posts....
The funniest thing to do in a forum is to edit your posts completely... after people replied to them... I don't do that... but it is a possibility.

^ I was just kidding. I don't understand the code / computer stuff, but I like IPA.
re: execution / understanding - that's a pattern in my home... it's definitely me that keys in on only the things I'm interested in doing. It was a poor attempt at conveying sarcasm.
That's why I quote anything that I find particularly relevant. It helps to avoid misunderstanding (I hope). The funniest thing to do in a forum is to edit your posts completely... after people replied to them... I don't do that... but it is a possibility.
