Hi Buzz,
Been catching up/reading all the threads, lol. and those things were mentioned,But AudioSan says clear skies,so I'll know soon, going to break for alittle while, let yall know soon,

no. Q5/6 is coscode transistors🙂 an the beta boards that i have it is wrong marking. but thats no problem🙂
yes i know. but it's better to hand tap it when it's not a hole all the way thrue🙂

Just speaking of safest way. I took the fire it up route. Smoke is part of the fun.
Thank you AudioSan. I just ran across a post #365 from Buzz describing the XA160.5 and more Fets with lower bias. No matter how many times I read a thread, I always find something new. 🙂
i did fire up my front-end today. just to make sure the cascode section is working. and it does.
with 25V rails i got 7.4V on J-fets drain relative to Gnd. R25/26 is 10K R27/28 is 4.75K

Hey,
You guys are distracting buzz, who was on a mission to let us know how a 4 pr 5T would work ....🙂

I have my fingers crossed that someone will come through with an F5Tv2 in a 5U chassis from the store as a dual channel amp. I know that at least someone has thought about that setup.. it must be..
The 5u chassis will handle the heat from a V2. Might eve. Get away with v3 at half bias and no diodes. They will sound different.

well. i'm about 8 drill's and tap's away🙂 and some transistor soldering.
hi there!
any possibility for a stereo f5t with 530VA / 30V r-core transformer?
maybe for V2 its enough power?
30VAC should gave me over 40VDC- would that be ok?
Thanks!
Best regards,
Matthias 🙂

2x30V transformer?
lets crunch some numbers. +/40V and 1.6A bias will give you a dissipation of 125W pr ch. and that is maximum for your transformer.
that will give you: (1.6A*2)*(1.6A*2)*8/2= 40W class A at 8ohm.
with +/-40V rails it will give you about 85W class A/B at 8ohm.
you will also need to cascode the input fets.
