I had used PTT6.5W08 in MTM configuration as OB, not directly as LX521. They work well, because big Xmax DSP compensation (I had it about +12dB on 150 Hz) in bass region is not a problem.Just curios -- would someone has an idea which Purify drivers might be a good upgrade for Siegfried Linkwitz LX521.4 open baffle speakers?
I know that SEAS specially designed few drivers for Siegfried, based on his engineering view.
Does it make sense to use Purify drivers in open baffle system?

Nope, waiting for bigger models to come up. They are obviously most technologically advanced drivers we've seen yet but it doesn't mean they are the best fit for every application. Took the stunning part as an example as it was funny to imagine someone tried to stun stuff with such device 🙂 sorry it was on your expense, nothing personal!tmuikku, I am curious to put your comment in context. Have you actually heard a Purifi woofer equipped speaker?
Well I hope it a good parts seller for Purifi. And measures well enough so that Purifdoes not get criticised.
I agree Lars is innovating whilst others have had a different focus.
My design will aim for better directivity out to past 60 degrees.
Eg. Dual 8” or 10” Purifi, 4” midrange, ribbon tweeter or Purifi tweeter.

I don’t have PTT6.5’s but I do have 8x 6.5in woofers per channel on this SLOB system. Even with budget woofers, the bass from 16x 6.5in cones is impressive.Holy crap-o-la. With a total of of 8 powered PTT6.5s able to stun small animals and children at 100 meters.
Four or eight 6.5” drivers is still no match for twin 12”, except for a slimmer cabinet.
A Purifi dual 8”/10” + 4” + HF can be better than a large 3 way from the 20th C, in every way.
Until Lars & Carsten and team Purifi came along, there was no replacement for displacement.

I think Sd of 8x 6.5in drivers is about the same or a tad larger than 2x 12in drivers. But no doubt dual 12’s are a lot of area.

Just when I thought it was safe another choice comes along to make me more confused...You all see the 5.25" preview?! : )

Hi WilburHi Kim,
Re. your application note: You refered to T25B-6 tweeter, but the application note show the T25A-6 tweeter?
The T25B-6 tweeter would the most attractive one I suppose.
thats a typo - its the T25B-6

Another typo? On page 6, with respect to the amount of stuffing, "Approximately 60g of the material is placed behind the driver and another." Another what?
Tried to test if the 6,5" purifi can be pushed to act like a bigger woofer. Lots of power - think I giving them around 500W now. Then I put them next to a set of SB23NRX. So to two boxes, one with 2 x Purifi in 20 liters closed and one with 2 x SB in 55 Liters. Crossed between 60 and 400Hz. Still the SB makes the most mid-woofer "WACK" - guess nothing beats surface area - or does it. Remember this is only a small test and the Purifi really come close... but I'm still temped to go big again - even to two SB WO24P (only 6mm bigger than 23NRX but more SD, to gain as much of a punch in the mid-woofer region - (natural of course - not excessive), that seems to be so absent in smaller speakers.
As you see, they measure very close to each other - only shifting between the mid-woofer boxes (plugs are Speak-on) - not even changing EQ, filters or anything else. Top octaves might look slightly different, cause I think I pushed the microphone a tiny bit while fiddling around.

20 for bothWhen you say 2 Purifi in 20l closed box, do you mean 20l each or 20 l for both ?
OkI can fit an 18” driver flush with the wall between standard stud spacing? Is the impulse response as good? How about integration with the mid?
I‘m using 18” BMS woofers for subs in theatre rooms, but not for woofer or midwoofer duty.
I am thinking of building the Troels Gravesen kit with the 1 off 6.5 and the Viawave HF unit.
I dont have a large room and only listen to music.
My question is that the TG box is 16.4 litres and it is tuned to 42hz.
Can I make it larger and keep the port the same so the tuning goes down, if so what is the max. volume before the bass becomes boomy.
