Yeah on the low end. On the high end folks are doing up to 32 channel Atmos.Pseudo stereo or Mono is where it’s at; if you look at 95% of the consumer buying market with their good enough bluetooth battery speaker.

I would have thought people who go for Purifi drivers in the first place had some interest in getting the best sound out of them. This isn’t the Tangband thread.
I never said that could happen with 1 driver. All my simulations are with 1 driver. Add 6dB every time you double the driver count. Keep doubling the drivers until you have the SPL’s you need, or go with bigger drivers.

Who says you need to drive them till distorted levels? Do the KII threes drive their woofers to distorted levels before the excursion limiter kicks in? I know I won’t be driving them that hard with my systems. I size the systems appropriately for the room they’re used in. And excursion limiters kick in before any audible distortion occurs. Smaller, with better sound. If you need more SPL’s, add more drivers. This is why the Kii three has the BXT option
Try a sealed cabinet some time. I stopped using 1 note sloppy bass, ported and PR configurations years ago. The advent of DSP made those configurations obsolete to me.

What’s newish is control of dispersion, or directivity control. This is what Bruno was looking to solve when he designed the Three.
your sloppy bass is due to mis-alignment; which is a common problem for inexperienced designers. Or mis-integration with the room. EQ is mandatory for sure, under the Schroder frequency.
Once it’s smooth, in room, the available evidence shows no preference between sealed, ported, or PR bass, or tapped horn alignments (ie. how you implement it).
The F3 doesn’t matter. It’s the F10. (Toole and Olive et. al)
And enough SPLs to satisfy the intended audience (theatre/studio/home etc)
I think the next big thing in home audio is the auto sensing loudspeaker…
Home audio is like valve amps; niche now. Even Apple missed the boat; and Sonos succeeded.
But as for audio, automotive and smartphones- they are big big markets in terms of $.

He’s not just solving directivity control. He’s controlling room nodes, improving bass quality, and improving the form factor.
Show me some 4 channel DSP with clock sync between units, video sync, FIR and IIR filters, room correction, time alignment , 450wpc of amps, with a THD+N like pictured below from 40 years ago.
And show me some 6.5-7” drivers like the Purifi’s from 40 years ago.

They used small drivers for Kii to get slim boxes. You don't need slim boxes for in-wall speakers. For 30-150Hz one 18" Pro woofer will do the job of more than 10 Purifi easily and all that cheaper than 1 Purifi driver.
I can fit an 18” driver flush with the wall between standard stud spacing? Is the impulse response as good? How about integration with the mid?
I‘m using 18” BMS woofers for subs in theatre rooms, but not for woofer or midwoofer duty.

Sorry but a 2 way ported passive speaker isn’t groundbreaking for me. I was building them 29 years ago when I was 14.

The M2’s are 2 decent drivers, in a cheap, tubby, thin Chinese box. The DSP amps have a THD+N in the mid 50’s. The only thing they have going for them is marketing. Well they do have AES67. But limited to 24/48PCM.haha tell that to JBL and their M2 designers…

The vent is certainly a boon for efficiency. But was a specific reference to the irrelevance of HPF order/group delay?haha tell that to JBL and their M2 designers…
