Explendid amplifier designed by Michael Bittner, our MikeB

High Sym

Dear collegues

Each minute I like more the name of this amplifier in gestation (never mind the big word, I couldn't find another)...HIGH SYM.

What do guys think? Is it apropriate?
If not how about a little contest finding the name?
I still think it should be associated to the belloved Symasym
because it was born from it (even though the gestation period is not over yet).

Well, HIGH SYM could be HIGHSYM, couldn't it?

In my old country (Portugal) there is a tradition to eat 12 raisins
(dried grapes) at precisely 12 midnight, it brings good luck
they say.
Well, I'll do that for the HIGHSYM.....

MikeB, Thank you very much for taking time giving me a very thorough and informative answer. I did find the DOZ (with 4700 uF Cerafine at output) with a loose and somewhat weak bass. I overcame the looseness by using a 6n1p SRPP tube buffer between my CD source and the DOZ. The bass is nice and controlled now but still a bit weak. The DOZ's highs are pretty good with my highly tuned CD source with OPA627 running class A at its output stage, but its certainly not state of the art. I do not mind the weaker bass, but I will certainly go for clearer and better sounding highs. I will get a PCB board made as soon as I can down load a copy of Eagle to convert the BRD file to Gerber file and send it to a PCB maker. I made a couple of PCBs before, but rather not do it again. I understand that you most likely know all the information I wrote here, but I would like to post them here for the benefit of anybody less knowledgeable like me, but still desired a top notch system like your SYMASYM5. Wow!!! 60 watts in class A too!!!

From your admirer,

What an ice idea....P.U.T.Z!....wonderfull idea!

P - Power
U- Unit
T= Transistors
Z= Zilions

Ahahaha!....great idea, wonderfull creativity, you are a Marketing gênius Mateus!

Tell us, have you studied that in University?...i am astonished with so sounding name....remember me sony....sounds very good!

That's perfect!...... you can spell easy...Putz!...a brand name that have a perfect sound....Putz power zilion!.

Symassym 6, Symassym 6.1, Symassym 6.1a, those are worst...yeah!

Also if you put those two points that change the pronunciation to a German will be perfect....in English may be Píutz!...in German Pootzt!

Wonderfull contribution, i think this year will made this thread reach half million hits!...but of course the name will contribute.

regards,

Carlos

I have already E mailed to Federal University about this name, the Mateus discovery.

Also i was thinking...the first letter, the "P" or the wonderfull name, PUTZ

The international language, English, has many nice words that can mach this "P";

Pace, pack, partner, piper, patriot, pavilion, peer, plausible, persevere, pet, phase, pioneer, pleasant,...and also Pavel that contributed with important efforts to Symassym amplifier

So, those letters can have enormous quantity of meanings, combined they will make sense someway...wonderfull!

Pavel, thank you, so i will keep 220uf, as no sonics problems using 220 or 10000uf.

Interesting, Mateus pronounciation in Portuguese is the same as Germans pronouce as Mathaus ...may be a German modified name.

regards,

Carlos

tttking..salivating was adequated...well, i have questions to Michael, because he is

the designer, but, other competent guys, skilled people, that can help me related some doubts are welcome too.

The questions are inside 10 images i prepare, showing the circuit.

This way will be easier to me than to explain in English what i mean.

regards,

Carlos

To Moderators, Audiofreak and all forum Management, my gratitude, here expressed, because of the patience demonstrated with me...an imperfect creature, trying to be more happy....hitting the head against the wall, crying and laughing and going ahead learning.

Moderators, almost all of them, demonstrated respect, patience, tollerance, capacity to forgive and strength not to envolve their own feelings, their own empathy, related people and other forum problems, ...for those, the almost 100 percent of them, those that demonstrated that capacity, please, accept my respects and my deep gratitude, as you let me, one more year around here, making my mistakes, and without beeing punished.

Accept please my apologize when i was rude and unfair...well...i am human only!

"When someone hurts another one, this do not seems he is bad, this seems he is hurted in his insides, with broken heart because of unfair things happened...no one, without having pains attack others!"

Hey Terry, where did you get those nice and big heat sinks? Did you fabricate them yourself? I am salivating.

I bought them on ebay. They were actually twice that big. I cut them in half and used the other two pieces for the last KSA 50 that I built. I bolted them together to form a tunnel and used a fan.

I played the Symasym for over an hour and could put my thumb right on the outputs and they weren't even warm. I think I could get by with much less.

Blessings, Terry
