AMichael!...a friend from Eastern Europe made his stock of sausages for winter.
My God..we have not those home made things here, but i have learned how to do them.
Here they come from many factories...we never know what they put inside.
This one i know what is inside...Paprika, pepper, salt, sugar, some red color, garlic....and maybe something more.
Very nice, this is delicous with potatoes.
by the way...on topic now, i borrowed some Black Gates from Aksa and installed in Symassym..... wonderfull!... the treble seems to be stronger, and more detailed...i have to compare...in some days i will told you if illusion or not....i think it is not illusion, as Hugh are using them for long time....in Aksa i did not tested them using it long time...but i did it with Symassym as i was using it to bother my "Singer Neighboor".... pumping bass till he stop to sing...and them i use the amplifier flat...hummmm, gut!
The big trouble with those things, is that after listen hi bass levels during long time, and switching to full range.... everything seems nice....i have to make a controled test!
My daugther smashed the air conditioned system and left suspension.... ensurance will take care of it.... 10 days without car...oh Christmas!....grrrrr!....had not competence to crash the other side as everybody does!

I have other unit using 220 or 470 in the input,the one inside the white case and using 42 volts supply....do not remember exactly if the 220 or the other... and it is inside enclosure now....the White one is used normally as sub bass, but i can switch filter off. I made it on purpose, i know that waveform turns sligtly different...but sounds nice.
The one i used to make noise was the smaller one....the one mounted over the small heatsink, the squared one.... this one had small input condenser.... a Siemens bipolar of 22uf...enormous related the micro black gates units...beautifull soundthe black gates produced, and the Siemens unit is not bad too!
I tried, the black gate, also in my speaker crossover...but could not keep it there, as i have 100 volts peak to peak in the digital unit, and the black gates are for 6.3 volts only....i perceived the quality, some instantaneous increase in level.... i have to measure...i have suspections that 22uf black gate may have 47uf...as i perceive the same result as a 47uf unit i use to compare.....very interesting.....those magic parts...very interesting... sound seems to be more detailed... volume increase was clear, and normally we do not perceive small increase of volume...normally is something around 3dB to perceive some!
There are moments that i think that i am inside some illusion...i will make serious testing about that.
I had some proves that those things happens with Silver Mica...but i think i am a little old to accept those things...so i accept not accepting, and i believe not believing.
Well.... having doubts!...snuberize them!

The guy that told me is from Croatia, and i could see pictures of the entire process of manufacture, step by step, dark sausages and normal sausages...the fat separation, the fat sub products...wonderfull, pretty good tradition, join all family to prepare together.
The family doing together, this is more important than the saugage....yes...if papper in the place of meat, could be tolerable too, as the family meeting is something that those ones will never forget.... when the sausages destiny, is something we all want to forget...ahahahaha!

I have no experience with these circuits, but i often heard that relays in the speaker path reduce quality. Unless you don't blow up the symasym you don't need it... 😉 250v 16a should be strong enough ! I have not blown up any symasym yet... 😀
The symasym has no audible turn on/off thump, so delayed speaker on is not needed.
Is your symasym already running ?

I've got a question. Do you think 15003/15004 TO-3's would work well with this amp? Does it need the faster devices? I've got some TO-3 heatsinks that would be perfect with this amp.

Still forgiven, i used BD139 and TIP2955 and TIP3055 once
And sounded very nice....it is hard to produce bad sound with this amplifier.
I think, the one to destroy this quality, have to be a very competent "dark side" terrorist Scientist.
As the worst parst you use, searching for worst, selecting for bad.... even this way, the damned will sound great.

The old devices you mention have fast and considerable decrease of gain with increasing current. Symasym is a modern amplifier based on modern devices, and this is one of the reasons of its good parameters and very good sound. I would keep the devices I have mentioned.

I have these on hand. Which would be the prefered choice and why?

I am not sure of how big the difference is with 1943/5200, i have not made a direct A/B comparison yet, but they do sound very good. The MJLs have 200watts rating, the TO-3's have 250watts, not a that big difference. Beeing ClassAB, heat dissipation is not very big anyway.
John, in my experience Digikey is very fast, if they have the Toshibas in stock you will have them tomorrow ! They needed only 2 days for my order from Germany...
