Eminence has a steal on this 15", if purchased directly from Eminence.
Admittedly, it is a different driver for a different purpose - but holy cow could you get great bang for the buck.

I hope someone can help. I'm trying to find a folded horn or tapped horn or any kind of compact bass horn cabinet design that would be the most suitable for these Lab 15-4.
I'm trying to build 8 boxes containing Lab 15-4 for outdoor use. Will run them at about 400 watts max continuous probably horn loaded so 6 ohm impedance so 50 volts. Need the most dB's possible because there's only ground loading, no walls or corners...
Some in this thread have said tapped horn works best, others said 6th order transmission line. Others in this thread said a front loaded horn such as BFM Tuba or Titan could work but you would need to make a bigger chamber due to higher Qes 0.59.
Any consensus on the most suitable most efficient horn type of cab for this Lab 15-4 driver??

Check out the Keystone. Last guy modded the exit specifically for this driver. I have one (with stock exit) and like mine alot but am no touring co. I say build one and check it out and build 7 more if you likey.
Do you already have the drivers or are you planning to buy them? At the price Parts Express marked them up to I'm not sure they're as much of a bargain as they were when Eminence was dumping them on eBay. Might be some better values out there.
That said the Keystone is a solid cabinet for them. It's hard to call it compact; they're pretty big boxes. With a little EQ they do give a pretty good result. Plus I don't know if you'll find a cabinet that's better at dissipating heat from the driver.

Here is one for yah Chris66
A 6th order series tuned cab works with the LAB15-4 and doesn't require a lot of internal volume, only about 150L .... I designed one called the ML-Transflex and it has a path length long enough to be similar to a tapped pipe or ML-TL with some tapped effect ...
A fellow in Texas built one and loved the results , and has used them at some small DJ gigs .... No real-world measurements of it yet but the sim certainly looks good for such a small cab ...
I will post the sketches ... I can also post his build pictures if anyone wants to see ...
A suggested bracing scheme
Stuffing / lining

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Thank you for the post Mr. Morgan J; I'd personally love to see the sketches and build pictures if you will be so kind.

Looks good ! Can you post the HR Txt file please, as i'd like to tinker with it 😉

Lab 15-4 ML-TRANSFLEX (150L) build pics
Sure guys no problem ....
I will post the build pictures that Mr "SynesthesiaAudio" in Texas sent to me, and then i will find the Honresp record and post the text file for Zero D (in a following post) ...
You can see from the last picture that the sub cabinet is actually rather physically small but he says the output was more than BIG enough to match his tops.. He is happy with them. 🙂

Look at post #78 and 110
Great deep bass maybe a bit lacking in "kick". Absolutely rock for outdoor movies.

ML-TRANSFLEX for the Lab15-4 , HR record export
Zero D ,
Here is the HR Text file for the 150L ML-TRANSFLEX (for the Lab15-4) from posts #168 and #171 ...... This design was developed somewhere in the middle of the Karlflex discussion a while back (http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/subw...flex-simple-build-series-tuned-6th-order.html) ....
This is an unusual way to use Hornresp since the Throat Chamber makes up the majority of the cabinet! It was the only way i could model the mass loading feature in this design .... Using this method assumed that the driver is located at the absolute beginning of the path (nd) when in reality the driver is offset just a bit so this is not a perfect simulation, but close enough in this case ...
This cab is tuned to a 35hz fundamental , i didn't want to go much lower because the goal was to squeeze a reasonable amount of efficiency out of a tiny cabinet .....

Hi MMJ
It is probably safer to include the exported record file as an attachment, which can be directly imported into Hornresp.
There is less chance of the data being corrupted that way 🙂.
Kind regards,
David

A few details
GM ,
58 volts to hit about 13mm in the working range (the excursion peak is centered around 47hz) ...
Driver is rated at 13mm xmax ..
Excursion minimum is at 35hz and the impedance minimum is just below that at between 33hz and 34hz...
Thanks, but why no correct Pe, Xmax included?

Hi, could you please show how you Actually translated the HR sim, into the drawings. Because from just the sim, i can't work out you got there 🙁
If you would, i would find it Extremely helpful if you drew in arrows from each part of the sim which corresponds with the folds/areas.
Thanx in advance 😉
