Temperature is fine, now raining every day and temperature dropped from 32 to 27 degrées célsius
Hi Carlos,

The chicken is always greener on the other side of the fence.

Here it's a HOT 10 degr. C. during the afternoon and a comfortable zero at night. I too wait for July when it's 23 deg.

😎

And FYI: my hair is almost as long now as it is in my avatar. And I think that photo was taken in the 70's, when long hair was normal for us hippy types. Just too busy to get it cut, and don't really care.

Colin (Vynul Addict), do you know any good hair cutters in this area?

Todd,

Im still working on making my way through to your place on my jaunts through town, so damn tired after work it slips my mind. Yes I know a great hairdresser, haha, my wife, she works out in Tsawassen so let me know and ill hook you up 🙂, you may just get a haircut before I do, I must agree on the weather, comfy as of late during the day but almost winter at night!. We need to meet up, your ears will like it very much...I am working in town tomorrow, near the 7-11, will make the best effort to pop in after the job...

Yes folks, sometimes i use my own language, the old and good Portuguese (corrupted from ancient portuguese from Portugal), but i am educated and respecting my forum friends, i always offer English versions....no bad words hidden...no tricky translation.

Question on PC board

Hi Nico and Carlos,

May I bother you two gentlemen with a observation/question?

This pertains to the PCB - I believe the most current version from around 29 Feb.

The problem is that I can't see a connection on the PCB from C26 (minus side) to Q10. What am I missing? Should there be a jumper that is not shown?

Regards,
Francois

Hi Carlos,

Unfortunately I will not be building it for quite some time. Like Nico, I have been quite ill and my mind has not been focussed on DIY at all for two months. I have not picked up a soldering iron for a long time.

....but I didn't want to miss out on what looks like great value!

Hopefully someone will build and comment on the sound, as there have been very few builder's comments on any of the versions so far.

Regards

Stuey

I had a look at the latest drawngs of Component layout and copper trace layout, and can see Francois's concern.

There appears to be a missing connection between C20,R25,Q10 common and the emitter of Q21.

Also RR41 is shown connected between VR1 and collector of Q21. R41 should connect to the emitter of Q21.

R41 is being shorted by the copper trace.

May be that the PCB has been revised since the latest released drawings, or I can't see the wood for the trees?

Thanks for spelling it out Billabong. I was just looking at the pinout on the BD139 to make sure of it before giving the specifics of my concern.

Nico, please have another look. Perhaps you have already corrected these issues in a PCB version later than the published one.

Regards,
Francois

I am a little bit sick, as we are entering a very low temperature moments here

ahahahahahah!...now temperature dropped from 32 to 26 degrées centigrades...and i got a flu because the "terrible" frozzen temperatures.... hospital filled with people till the top... when weather changes, people start to turn sick.

ahahahahah!

Also, the subject belongs to Nico...he made the boards, i have only disturbed him asking small letters, asking to change things from position...and some of the failures may be consequence of my intervenctions.

As he made boards, as he tested boards, as he have assembled boards, he can answer folks.... i cannot..... those boards i am watching into the same level you all are watching...so... i will have my own doubts too.

Nico is healing, and soon he will be here...be patient please.

Also busy with Brazilian forum, with a Blog, with Orkut too.... answering questions like:

- "I have plugged my 100 watts amplifier into the Dx Standard (20 volts RMS into the input)...and i found the sound distorted and the power was the same...WHY?"

This is what i am answering... sadly my people is very ignorant.... i was also the same before i have entered this forum...i am a product, a result of this forum knowledge.

regards,

Carlos

Hahaha Carlos, good luck with those people...

It is also suddenly very cold here, rained yesterday...

I attached an enlargement for you guys to follow the trace... but thanks for the concern...

Guess what I am going to use my amp for... a guitar amp...

My wife works with someone whose husband is a lead player, they came to pick us up on saturday to watch one of their gigs....

This guy is so good it totaly reawakend a long sleeping dragon in me... I used to take classical guitar as a high school subject and also had electric guitars and played band etc when I was muuuuuuuuch younger... it was something I gave up along with some bad friends to get ahead in life.... as some of you may know I was alsop born into a band, as my dad was a drummer virtualy all his life (started at 12, when my grandmother got tired of him denting her cake tins and bought his frst drum set). It is definatly an environment I am very used to and know intimately. Who knows in a year or 2 I may be back up to skilled level and can join...
I haven't been excited about anything in a very long time, but now I'm totaly hyped up...

Hope to be able to give you guys feedback on the boards by tommorrow. They did say they would work on it Friday after hours, and today, so I will not bother them yet...

There is clearly a mistake on the DIY PCB. It doesn't match with Nordic's snapshot above, and is certainly wrong. I'll update it and post the corrected version as soon I get a chance. (next few days)
