diyAB Amp The "Honey Badger" build thread

element14 has 2x40V to 2x55V 625VA Vigortronics toroids for $107 GST included. You need to back order these but multicomp are available but $50 or so more expensive. Primary is 230V (2x115V) so you get 4% higher rails.

Best and not too expensive output devices are njw1302 / 3281, have better SOA than mjl4xxx series at half the price.

cheers,

Cool, thanks for the reply. I ended up going with the Antek supply suggested in the BOM as well as the suggested transistors as I had already purchased them. Im happy with the Antek as I can also use it to power the speaker protection board.

After a couple of weeks working on a housing for the badgers that is inspired by Cambridge Audio, I am happy to share the result:

Finally got a work bench set up in the new house...

Easy progress today, the heat sinks are together.

I'm assuming this minor misalignment won't cause my any grief? It's a flaw in the casting.

Hi helitim,
What oscilloscope is that on your new bench?

You might want to consider making a rack behind the bench for a growing suite of test equipment to preserve your working area. Just a thought.

-Chris

It's a Sencore SC3080. Less than 10 hrs on it. It was sitting in storage for a long time, but appears functional. I have all the original documents as well.

I actually kept my old kitchen cabinets and some shelving for my "shop". Right now it's just a temporary set up . I have a room that's approx. 16'x26' to use :)
