I have two things to look forward to this month:
The remake of Tarkovsky's "Solaris"
And, El Pipe-O
Something tells me El Pipe-O might turn out to be the more exciting of the two.
Thanks PASSDIY!

Yep. George Clooney is playing Kris Kelvin. It opens November 27th. James Cameron is the producer. I wonder if he knows its not an action flick?
No doubt Stanislaw Lem's novel will be sweetened for the masses, and the power trio of Soderbergh, Clooney and Cameron ultimately my induce Andrei Tarkovsky fans to blow massive, hurling chunks, but should be entertaining none the less.
The original Solyaris can be found here:

Sweetened for the masses is a serious understatement.
James Cameron is yet another graduate of the Roger
Corman school of filmmaking.
Of course the original is pretty boring. I own it and have only
sat through it once.

At least you were able to sit through it... 😴
Even though I love the cinematography, as a rule of thumb for most Tarkovsky films I watch, I use the following formula which describes viewing stamina;
T=4C, where T is running time in minutes, C is the number of 16oz. tumblers of piping hot coffee necessary for a successful conscious screening.
For values of T less than or equal to 180 minutes; drink all of the coffee at paced intervals. If, however, T exceeds 180 minutes drink the first 3 cups (48 oz) at 60 minute intervals, finishing with a brisk pouring the final 16 in your lap at T=181...
It generally works..

They are remaking Solaris?
What!!? Did they run out of Philip K. Dick stories already......?
What next, a remake of Alphaville?
Everything has been said, provided words do not change their meanings, and meanings their words,

Funny you should mention, Alephville has been on IFC
a couple of times this last month.
You want bad? Ed Wood's Orgy of the Dead can't be beat.

I'd fly you ‘round the universe.
In fireball xl5.
Way out in space together.
Conquerors of the sky.
My heart would be a fireball.
A fireball.
Please say El Pipe-O and ZV5 will arrive in time for Christmas. Oh, please. Oh, please! Even a scant hint. A wayward schematic. Anything. I beg you.
Christmas break is when I get to do some serious DIYing.

Indeed! Definately a great time for DIYing! 😀 Nice to go home and have easy access to a table saw and other tools.

OK El Pipe-O before Xmas. I promise!
ZV5? I have several designs in front of me and I have to
decide which gets the honor. Late January at best.
Crossover and Wayne's passive preamp w/ remote are in
the pipeline.
Looking back at 2002, it looks like we can manage a
project about every 2.4 months.

And the Monster Amp? I'll probably be one of the first ones around here to build it. Just the schematic and a little bit of notes will do. I'll fab my own PCBs. So when can we witness the product of your id?
I love monsters. Following the example of Roger Corman,
first we need a good name and then a lurid poster. Then
we make the movie.
So what do you want?
