... about that monster amp
Last year I built something like the 'über Aleph'.
this one idles about 1300W/ch, has 32XIRF620N front end bias current is about 100ma, and output power is beyond 550W.
In the moment it's driving a Visaton Monitor (94db/m).
THIS ONE REALLY ROCKS!
Since nobody here seems to care about electricity bills, and if trere's interest in this project i'll take some photos and post a little more.

Zen version 5? Will this be the Ultimate Zen? Or a Son of Zen variant?
Either way a terrific birthday present! Thanks, Nelson. 😉

the claw
Hi, Mr Pass
will the claw be a single speaker horn project, or a multyway one?
How are the dimensions of the prototype/schematics (in case that no prototype has been buid yet)?
and- thousands of thanks for sharing the knowledge of the amps etc.
How do you make it with your time?
It seems it takes a lot of time to make the commercial passlab things, the passdiy things, speaker projects and watching/answering to the forums and so on (dont know if you have family or simillar things.)
And I wish to say that it`s an honour for me, having communicated Mr. Pass....
Regards,
Ralf

The Claw is awaiting some more floor space in the shop,
so probably January.
After that, the crossover.

Mr. Pass
is it bigger than this one of yamamura churchill?

entirely too much space.

Ooooh, nice!
Actually, that one looks like a larger version of the
"Kleinhorn" that Cyclotron guy and I have been working on.
The Claw is similar but larger and not curved or folded.
It currently uses an 18" driver.

The Original Brown Note ?....
I remember reading in 'New Scientist' mag 30 years ago about a 19th century trial of an outdoor giant passive horn that was big enough such that an ensemble could perform under a flared entry to the horn, and the horn bending 90 degrees and then flaring out to very large dimensions and broadcasting over a public park.
This passive amplification worked much too well according to the report of the low frequencies causing profound nausea in the audience members !.
Nelson, you have been warned. 🙂
Eric.

Shouldn't that be The Giant Claw?
"An electronics engineer, a radar officer, a mathematician and systems analyst, a radar operator, a couple of plotters. People doing a job, well, efficiently, serious, having fun, doing a job."

That makes me Chief Cook and Bottle Washer in a one-man Bird-Watchers' Society,

I see you have a shot from the classic "The Claw"
Now we need an audio clip from "Get Smart":

What's it like to work with the Mad Scientist Karen?
Heroine: Will it work, Mitch?
Hero: I don’t know. I honestly haven’t the faintest, foggiest idea. It’s one of those cockeyed concepts that you pull down out of Cloud Eight somewhere in sheer desperation!
