We got a chance to try out my new preamp. Fully balanced in-out. Two stages of Universal Gain Stage (UGS) with a shunt volume control in between. 22 dB of gain. Many thanks to Anaël for the board layout and all his help.

Vintage gear is so much fun. Wolfgang spoiled us again with more kit that I can remember. Here's a monster power amp, and some pretty nice vintage speakers. They sure rock!

George brought from Toronto a USB to I2S converter and an e18 dac. The latter has SPDIF and USB inputs, up to 32 bit / 384 kHz, and eight line outputs.
George - Thank you for attending this event, being so generous of your knowledge, and letting us try and test your creations. Hi-res is adictive!

We had more time for listening this year. For example, we got to compare different masterings of the same album, like these CD and vinyl versions of Lennon's 1971 Imagine album .
Last picture for me tonight. Stay tuned for more in coming days. Many more .

My two pics.
As usual I'm to busy to take pictures. I could have surreptitiously taken photos of Owen using my audiophile grade wire nuts, but darn it my phone was being used as a wireless internet hub. But I did get these two pics:
I think Pierre was sleeping...
Yes it is definitive. Pierre was sleeping. Pictures don't lie....much!
Pierre is the kind soul that gets the arrangements done for the venue every time. Without him we have nothing. So a tip of the hat to the hard work you did Pierre. Thankyou! He picked up lunch for us all and we even got cookies! Good thing there were only a few cookie monsters about. I scared them off with evil organ music.
We were listening to a recording of Holst's The Planets. Requested by the fine gentleman in the took! We had a great cross section in ages and interests. And I for one thoroughly enjoyed myself. The caliber of equipment was cutting edge, the people were kind, courteous and cordial. And we got to listen to tunes! Whoohooo!
Oh yeah. The speakers in the picture.
Well since the other uber projects I'm working on were behind schedule, I thought I could whip up a back burner project that was rather simple. It turned out to be in the strange category of not wanting to turn off. As in so interesting to listen to that I didn't want to turn them off. Doesn't happen all that often to me. I guess anyone can get addicted to good sound.
