Mark I was putting my stuff away and one of your cd's was in one of my cd's boxes. I brought a copy of my Dave Brubeck cd just in case this kind of thing happened. Theoretically you should destroy this cd copy as per copywright laws. The cd I have of yours is Virgil Fox The Bach Gamut. Let me know how you want to get back.

Hi guys, it was really fun to meet you, to exchange ideas and to show off projects.

Pierre, your preamp is very impressive - nice workmanship! It was the only device as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. I think you need to explain to Owen the concept of using enclosures 🙂.

Owen, your line of "Wire" amplifiers is very impressive. Your I/V stage for ES9018 is the best I've ever seen. Running a blind volume matched listening test - the exaSound e18 DAC against your DAC and your headphone amplifiers - was a scary experience. Anybody interested to find out who won? - The only way to know is to run the same test at your DIY Audio Fest! (And Please tell us about your results.)

The pictures: On the left Owen matching the output level of the "Wire" Headphone Amp under load with the headphone output of the exaSound e18 DAC. On the right - exaU2I in the shadow of Owen's I/V stage. Now I know why RayCtech attached heatsinks to the exaU2I.

As usual I'm to busy to take pictures. I could have surreptitiously taken photos of Owen using my audiophile grade wire nuts, but darn it my phone was being used as a wireless internet hub. But I did get these two pics:

I think Pierre was sleeping...

Yes it is definitive. Pierre was sleeping. Pictures don't lie....much!

Pierre is the kind soul that gets the arrangements done for the venue every time. Without him we have nothing. So a tip of the hat to the hard work you did Pierre. Thankyou! He picked up lunch for us all and we even got cookies! Good thing there were only a few cookie monsters about. I scared them off with evil organ music.

We were listening to a recording of Holst's The Planets. Requested by the fine gentleman in the took! We had a great cross section in ages and interests. And I for one thoroughly enjoyed myself. The caliber of equipment was cutting edge, the people were kind, courteous and cordial. And we got to listen to tunes! Whoohooo!

Oh yeah. The speakers in the picture.

Well since the other uber projects I'm working on were behind schedule, I thought I could whip up a back burner project that was rather simple. It turned out to be in the strange category of not wanting to turn off. As in so interesting to listen to that I didn't want to turn them off. Doesn't happen all that often to me. I guess anyone can get addicted to good sound.

Mark, those new speakers that you demo'd for us are crazy scary (real bass like I've never heard, at least from a system that could live in someone's home, and with a clarity in the rest of the range that is phenomenal)! Thanks for throwing them together at the last minute.. 😉

Btw.. where can I find out more about the the little TangBands that I picked out of the raffle.. ? (markings are something like "W4-11625D? or 1162SD?)
Google wasn't able to help me on this one, and I'd like to get the specs so I can actually come up with something with them for next year(and make it a challenge going forward .. ) or am I going to have to do the measurements myself too 🙄

No problem John.

Well I happen to be able to do some measurements!

A few minutes with them and my laptop with tester and I could give you all of the required info.
Send me a PM and I send you an email.

Hi Mark,

Were those speakers a trade secret or you're willing to share the build with us?

Looks to be a real interesting project!

Thanks
Do
