Feb26 - Updates
Things are looking good.
Dave also from Pickering has offered to bring his computer with speaker measurement gears to share and show us how easy it is to get our hands on the speaker measurement software/tools nowadays.
Yes, please bring gears/stuff with you if you desire to show and tell as long as they are easy to set up. It will be in my basement so medium size speakers should be no problem too.
Unlimited coffee will be served through out the day.
Regards,
Chris

BTW,
If anyone is interested in some workspace, I would be more than happy to share the rental something in TO (I have seen the Murrays rent a space in Scarborough) http://www.mras.ca
they're about 300/month + power for a 10'by20' space i think...

Hey Chris,
I can't make it to the other side yet but I'd like to hear how it went. Incidently, my wife worked for Sonic Frontiers until they got "sucked in" to Paradiam.

Great !
If you want to bring your gears you are welcome.
I am hoping someone would have Jx92 speakers, or snubberized
GC or RIAA phono stage since I am looking for a project to build one and I can not use my TT without one.
Just confirmed we have enough members to meet this Saturday. Looking forward to meet you guys.

I've been looking forward to a meeting all winter and finally Chris steps up to the plate right in my town and I get called to drive downtown for a business meeting on Saturday morning.
Arrrggh!
If I can get out in time I'll come to the meet, and if I have enough time to pick up gear I'll bring a special treat, an RCA MI-1428b

So sorry Chris

Dave,
If there is no accident on the DVP it should only take you 30 minutes from Union Station to my place on Saturday. I am only 5 minutes from the 401 exit so if you finish by 2:00 you still have an hour in with the meet.

Re: Feb26 - Updates
Geez, I'd like to come just to find out what "Unlimited" coffee tastes like. Is that better than President's Choice? 😀

Hi Chris,
Possibly, I would like to come as well to see what DIY is really about. I am a relative newbie in this area with pocket headphone amp in a resume so far 🙂 next thing is gainclone and possibly loudspeakers.
pm sent
Thanks

Just a reminder for those who can make it to the meet. If you do have a mobile phone please do call my number when you are at the doorstep. I am pretty sure that we are not going to hear the door bell when playing music. Or be patient and go crazy with the door bell, someone with good ear eventually would hear the door bell 😀

I think we are going to get a pretty good turn out tomorrow. Lets hope that the snow will stop soon and not to spoil those who has to travel far. Someone may be coming from London.
Folks, that is the spirit of DIY..

Great to hear that the event occured. I sure hope someone will be kind enough to post pictures and explanations to a website so those of us who could not attend can share in the fun.
Thanks Chris!
A pleasure to meet you, and Mike, and Graham.
I arrived right at the end of the day due to the ill-timed business meeting, and found myself amongst kindred spirits. The house system was excellent and my first opportunity to hear dipole subs. Wish I'd had time to arrive earlier. Hope to get together again and hear more. Smaller local events are definitely worthwhile!
An unexpected twist was that the people that I met at today's business meeting are intensely interested in sound systems, and because I mentioned that I was heading next for a diy audio meeting, they called later and offered to host a diy meet within their facility, which is in the downtown Toronto area, conveniently close to the Gardiner and QEW! Magnificent!
Stay tuned.

Sounds good Dave.
It was a pleasure to meet you, Mike, Chris and Byron.
Chris has a nice setup with a ton of DIY amps and gain clones. It is a work in progress but it sounds very good. We tried tweaking the subs by moving them around and playing with the active crossover. I am not sure if anyone took any pics.

I guess these guys are new to this. They think others will believe that an event actually took place just from their word. 😀
