Developing a Regulated Dual Rail Power Supply For FirstWatt Amps

Already simulated many designs.
Haven't decided what exact testing I will do yet. That could be still a few months away.
There's still the issue of purchasing 4m of copper bar.
Not sure I want ti purchase that much when I won't need more than 0.5M for the rest of my life.
Online metals will cut so .5 meter . No need to buy 4 meters worth of the stock. :emoticon: Online Metal Store | Small Quantity Metal Orders | Metal Cutting, Sales & Shipping | Buy Steel, Aluminum, Copper, Brass, Stainless | Metal Product Guides at OnlineMetals.com

Something like this should do the trick, seems quite overkill but perhaps not for our OCD friend.

1/2” X 1.25” X 12” Copper Flat Bar Stock | eBay

For 0V connection the minimum width I need is 55mm (big capacitors) but will probably go with 80mm wide.
I found some scrap copper that will do the job temporarily just to get the ball rolling here.
I hope to drill out 5mm holes tomorrow.
Decided to go with CCRC to halve the amount of current sinking on the first capacitor.

You could consider moving some or all of the series resistance into the primary circuit*, instead of in the secondary circuit after the diodes. Softer start, less Ipeak stress upon the diodes and capacitors, lower output impedance, what's not to like?

*resistance scaled by the appropriate ratio to account for the fact that Iprimary = (Vsec/Vprim)*Isecondary , neglecting transformer losses
