The Dx Corporation is pleased to inform
that we have Mr. Silveira, an advanced audiophile that now is in the Orkut Dx group.
The amplifier i am showing you is a Leach amplifier, and you see the quality of his construction, and, in special the material used.
Near future, Dx Amplifiers will be built by Mr. Silveira.

Hi Senor Carlos,
Wish to suggest to start a new thread for this DX evolution, since you already created DX amp a name of its own with its classic design. For sure the evolution have its own distinction and unique differences both sound stage and principle of operation.

Suggestion accepted dear Mannyc..i will do that as soon as
.... i listen the amplifier and perceive it as good enougth to go on with it.
If not good (this happens), then i will not open a new thread about.
This gonna be one of the last posts about the Dx Evolution i this Dx Amplifier thread.... if not aproved i will come here, once again, to inform that or to inform the new thread starting link.

Nothing could be done without your help Mr. Eduardo
The parts i am using were provided by your kind person that sent me, as a gift, enormous packages of electronics parts, including proto-board, osciloscope, power transistors, metal transistor holders to fix and enormous heatsinks.
The power transistors i am using came from Sean...my dear Anonimous in this forum... nice fairchild transistors...more than 16 pairs, all them matched with 180 of gain. (4215 and 4315)
Also you helped bringing to Brasil parts sent by our forum friend Anonimous, also parts sent by Nordic, parts sent by Thomas Jennings (Steve Dunlap) and some other very kind friends that are helping me with parts, cooperating with the Dx Corporation, and because of that, your picture and some other folks images will be into the Corporation Hall of fame.
A place of honor, and also will be into one of the International President charges around the world.
Why not to dream...it may became true one day.... and you gonna see that i have a very good memory and you will be all invited.
regards,
Carlos
.............................................................
I will return all that kindness with me producing nice amplifiers, posting them here and explaining all i know about them, in some way many folks will have the chance to learn something about amplifiers (basic knowledge) from me.... i have learned in this forum.

I do my circuit boards with through-hole components soldered on top of the traces, too. It's not as durable, but it is easy!

It is a very good idea too my friend.
My board style is nice when you have shorts.... those copper traces, reinforced with melted solder can hold 30 amperes without explode...it is an ethernal board...i have some boards here made 13 years ago...and mounting and dismounting back again and they are fine to be used.
It is not easy to reach over temperatures to the copper rail, as solder will dissipate... we gonna melt the surface and copper lines will be keep cool and glued into its place without complains.

Carlos

What is the voltage rating for C6 and C7 (47 uF caps)?
and if I cannot get 47uf should i use a smaller or higher value?

Use higher values..voltage there may be your supply voltage or bigger than that
You can increase value.

Re: Use higher values..voltage there may be your supply voltage or bigger than that
thanks, but what is the voltage rating supposed to be?
Also what is voltage rating of C7 (1,000 uf)
These C5, C6, C7 are in the middle of the circ so I assume that it is allowable to be rated less than the power supply voltages?
Of course should be higher than power supply voltages just to be safe right?
My problem is that I am using 50V caps for 35 volt power supply and I want to know if 35V caps will be ok here because they will fit much easier.

35 volts condensers will work very good with 35 volts supplies
Because 35 volts condensers can really hold much more voltage than the one printed into the case.
Imagine you are a condenser manufacturer dear Igreen..... would you make your 35 volts condenser to explode when facing 36 volts or will you make your condenser to face much more volts?
Of course they make to face more voltage, because supply can have increasing in voltage because of mains voltage variations, and 20 plus and 20 minus is possible to happens.
Use 35 volts condensers to 35 volts amplifiers without worries into rails.
Internally to the amplifier, the bootstrapp condenser and some others you may find internally, may need twice the supply voltage as insulation voltage for safety reasons, because failures into the circuit may result higher voltage than the rail voltage... depending the failure you can have rail to rail voltage..... in our case, rail to rail voltage is 70 volts.
The condensers you have into the rail, into the amplifier left side, after they have passed the series rail resistance (82 ohms) ... those will face 1 or 2 volts less than the supply voltage...so.... they are 35 volts too.
Use your rail voltage as reference...if your supply is producing 40 volts, for instance...them the condensers may be 50 volts, unless you find 42 volts condensers beeing sold...
In my imagination, if electrolitic condenser value have not changed, they use to be 1uf, 2,2uf,4,7uf,10uf,22uf,33uf,47uf,100uf,220uf,470uf,1000uf... and voltages use to be 6.3V,12V,16V,25V,35V,50V,63V,83V,100V..... if they have not changed those things...so.... having supplies with sligtly more than 35 volts, then jump to the next higher value, and it may be 50 volts.
Take some time to read this entire thread, as this was informed many times in a very detailed way.... also almost all questions you should make were discussed into this thread.... this will help me, avoiding me to repeat the all stuff once again.
I have readed all www.diyaudio.com forum three times...all threads and all posts....so...i think it is not too much to ask you to read only this thread that may interest you and for sure will be helpfull...if not only to you, for sure will be good for both of us.
The feedback line condenser, the one you have into the second transistor from the differential pair, the one have a 2K2 resistance into the positive side..... the one connected, with it's negative side to the lifted ground resistance (10 ohms...the low noise lifted ground)... this one is up to you.... 47uf, 100uf or 220uf, values more often used in this position, having insulation of 70 volts may be too much big..... so.... it will be more "nice" to the amplifier to have 50 volts insulation there or even 35 volts insulation unit there...BUT..if you amplifier suffer an internal damage...voltage there can turn 70 volts and this condenser may explode beeing an unit that cannot hold 70 volts (normally the 50 volts units can hold 70 volts)...so...it is up to you to use 16 volts there or 70 volts there... up to you the decision..... normally DC voltage there is small because of the second transistor base to emitter junction that keeps voltage very low...but this transistor can fail too and then you will have higher voltage in that position..... to produce your amplifier that may face all kinds of failures or not is something that must be your personal decision...to go to the most safety side or to take some risks.
regards,
Carlos

Imagine if we can face an electrolitic manufacturer that will produce a 35 volts condenser that will explode when people connect it to 35.1 volts...this gonna be a suicide to his company..this does not happens!

Don't worry, about 3000 of those messages are off-topic and you can skim right past them. That should reduce the reading time down to about 11 hours.

I think i have to tell you some more words dear Todd
Dearest Todd Johnson, as beeing an old member
into this corporation and ultimate cooperator,
you had answered to all your questions posted
as well as others had questions answered .
I just ask, also suggest, and please, that delayed

to read the material already published, respecting
that many efforts and dedication were spent to
produce them, and this was done to facilitate the
understanding.
I used it throughout the goodwill and patience
dedicated to all colleagues, whether experienced
or not .... many questions have been answered,
and i did it several times.. even noticing that some
individuals were lazy to return some fell pages to
read the material posted...many have landed, alike
a parachuter.. without read nothing and some of
them started to produce questions thinking i was
there only because of them...not really...i was there
because of entire forum folks, in special the ones
was decided to build Dx Corporation amplifiers.
Some personnel from those folks seems was lazy
or too much self centered to perceive they were not
alone into that relationship that has all forum folks
as beeing users and readers... and those, some of them
were producing questions, asking na exclusive attention,
when we have strong activity into the thread..so...thread
was alive and hot... even this way they had their questions
answered..the same way dear Todd and other folks will
have the needed answers to their questions.
does not seem fair or appropriate that I will be repeating
everything that was said and written for each lingerer that
applying to mount my amp... reason why, i use to
ask folks to spend some time reading... and not to
feel themselves too much scared by the number of

Of course you are right brother Carlos. (You're much too young to be my uncle.) Reading the amplifier construction threads, especially yours, have provided me with a great education. You are a good teacher Carlos. If anyone is building a DX amplifier, they MUST read the entire thread.
And these threads are exciting to read. They are full of personalities and emotions. The most memorable message is Nico's "It works!" message. I hope Nico is okay.
The books from Self, Slone, etc. can teach theory, techniques and ideas (not to mention opinions), but reading these threads provides true experience, that only problems and mistakes can produce. And you don't even burn your fingers or smoke your transistors.
I am anxious to see the new DIYAudio system that is (hopefully) coming soon. I hope it addresses the document and information management problems that these projects create.

Thank you dear Todd.
I am celebrating today, as my niece finally could find the job she wanted, as personal trainer into the Arabian Emirats.... Abu Dhabi is the place.
I am glad we (brazilians) have not problems with Arabians or Jew or other country/religion/place.... we have good relationship with everybody, including China and Russia.
I am very happy she did what she wanted... i remember i have bougth one of the first shoes she used to make gym when she was very young.... this resulted great!
A great day to old Charlie.... i am feeling very well today!
