Dedicated PSU for DEQ/DCX2496

It´s fine,havent decided where to hit first..😎 😀
I think first I will try the output board (when I get the time)so its working as it should before...Hmm,the last one is the new upsampling input.
Regarding the memory reader,I have saved some presets on my computer,just to test if it worked(it did).And,I don´t know if it would work to insert a memcard permanently in holder (if DSP card)moved.At least there will be an extra chance of backup if the internal memory fails..

Edit:The Harwin Socket 150501,where to get them?Or is it any other method to use when soldering Ic3 to PCB?

You can directly solder the DC/DC module on the PCB but when you see the module price, it's better to use a socket. The module will not be easy to unsolder too.

The Harwin socket can be found at Farnell. It's cheap.

I tried to find a reference on the Digikey site but it's difficult. Their web site is not as the Farnell's one.

Look for "Pin Receptacles". Internal diameter should be around 1mm. External diameter around 1.9mm. The holes on the PSU pcb are 2mm diameter.

May be this one: ED5019-ND

Hi guys,

You are, seems like, stuck to Digy Key. I do not know if they have office in Europe, or you are buying from States? If you are buying from States, than another good place to buy is http://www.mouser.com/

For me they are kind of complimentary to Digy Key. They have stuff that DK is not selling. In this case they are Harwin distributor, unlike DK. If you go to a Harwin web site, and if you search for the part number, they will take you directly to the order item page on the Mouser site.

I am sorry if I am posting this message, and because of some reason you cannot do this, but figureout it doesn't hurt to mention.

By the way, I have all the parts for the Frank's boards. All that I am missing to receive are Frank's boards before I send it back to you.

Right, they have the sockets. I have the Harwin's one and I'm sure they fit.

Sh... They have the PTN78000WAH in stock at lower price and I ordered some at Digikey now in backorder...

Intl shipping cost seems to be 35$ minimum...

Farnell is fine for Europe but they don't have the LT1963 TO220 and they sale the PTN78000WAH at robber price (and with a 18€ surcharge).

:bawling:

That sounds very fine to me! I'll take four of them Ryssen.

These are for 1.93mm PCB holes, I can't check if it's ok as I still could not get my PCBs until now (French public strikes :smash: )

Edit : just read that Steph uses them so they fit!

Ok,anyone else?

The Wire and pin,that you link to on your site,stef1777,
8729328 M80-9180099 — HARWIN — LEAD, SKT/SKT 22AWG 150MM
seems a little expensive..and I need 14 to DCX and DEQ so minimum order is 20,thats about 36euro....

It must be cheaper to use
Crimp pin

By the way,how did you remove the original connector,theres awful small traces on that PCB.

Yes, it's really expensive but the quality is there. A very good contact for a PCM2 connector. But definitively expensive. ;-)

Great to have find the socket alone. I was not aware. I'll add it on my page.

To remove the connector, I placed the dsp board in an desktop vice. I used a small grip to remove the pins one by one with a soldering iron. The plastic from the connector become slackness with temp. In my remember, it was easy.

I'll will not be really connected until Monday. My phone line is dead (and the adsl with).

Hi folks!

I got the first comment on the PSU from an DCX user (and diyers).

The sound in my DCX is very nice, the most improvement are in the high frequencies, they are a lot more smooth than before.
The sound comes more relaxed but without lost of information, more like "analog".

This comment is very close to my own feeling on the DEQ (but for me it was especially dynamic who changed in best).

Following tests and measures done by a DCX user with better test equipments, it was possible to goes furthers with specs changing and removing some components. I'm preparing a schematic and BOM update that I will place on my web site as soon as I'll will have personally tried these changes.

I'll let you know soon.

Stef...

This is very good news Step!

By the way, I wonder if the +/-15V lines only power the input/output board of the DCX. That would mean that one only have to care about the other voltages if he uses a passive input / output design, or like what I plan : digital in directly on the DSP board and output transformers.

Hi Jan,
I will try this PSU on DCX soon, nearly get all components for...some of them change from the first shot;

By the way, I have a lot trubble to get the activ kit with TNT delivery(from Pilgham); It seems that is always very hard with TNT in France;
Pilgham should send by normal post office with tracking!to make that better with other delivery service in France then;

keep in tuch

Hi Fred,

I know that Pilgham mails their packages with a tracking number and insured, which I think is the best thing to do considering the value of the kit. I'm sure you know this already.

I seem to remember that he send something to you earlier without a problem, so this seems an incidental thing. I will ask him to look into it. Are you in contact with them about this?

Jan Didden

Hi,
Problemse comes ONLY from TNT as usual unfortunatly!
But today Pilgham did not help me to change the way to deliver from TNT: actually I loose 2x 1/2 days working and lot of time and phone money!
With post office there is also tracking and insurance and 300€ is not that much for sending...
Whatever, I was waiting for 10 days now for delivery but I WILL GO in vacation tomorrow! whatever the kit is located 🙂
Trust me, I receive around 150 packs this year with never such trubble;Pilgham SHOULD CHANGE TNT for a better company serious and responsible!
I will claim to get money back on this;
See u in 3 weeks and onother one to prepare the PSU!
