Daphile - Audiophile Music Server & Player OS

Today, I install a second server. Everything OK but the server doesn't shutdown properly. It "hangs" ... On a monitor, I see the server going shutdown, but it goes not "off". Mainbord Jetway 2920 Bay Trial, latest official Daphile version. Installed from Unebootin USB install stick. Any ideas??

Odd webpage behaviour from Daphile

Hi

Just noticed today that the web interface for Daphile is behaving oddly

The playlist pane highlights one track after the one that is actually playing ! The actual playing track is displayed correctly in the frame above the playlist though

So when I click on a track on the playlist it plays the one above the one I actually click!

:spin:

This behaviour is consistent across devices and browsers

Anyone else noticed this?

After several tests an trying everything, I noticed when I shutt off Intel HDMI Audio in the bios, the server doesn't go shutdown.

When I set Intel HDMI Audio = "on" in the Bios, everything is fine and when I put my finger on the "off-button", my musicserver goes off indeed...

Daphile on PC with Optical Out

Hi, I installed daphile on a slim Lenovo IdeaCenter pc and connected my DAC via optical out (My DAC is not USB capable). When I go to the settings page, Daphile reports that no compatible audio device was found. Is there a way to fix this?

Thank you. Hammer8

My understanding is that Daphile is USB only so a usb/spdif converter or a new dac seem to be your only options

Daphile is able to use every audio device which is recognized in linux. I checked on an old ACER laptop which has an Optical out and this was seen as "ALC269 Digital [hw:1,1]" (the hardware itself is seen as Intel HDA which contains also the Analog Device "ALC269 Analog [hw:0,1] for playing sound over the build-in speakers). Most laptops contain an HDMI- or Display-port which should be recognized also as an audio device.

In general a laptop should at least show an Analog output, so in case you don't see any audio output devices I guess you need to enable the audio in the BIOS. If that should not work I advise to install a Beta-version of Daphile and after startup login via SSH (user:root/password:zaq) and check within linux itself which audio devices are discovered (command: aplay -l)

I didn't realise that you could do that- that's very useful to know 😎

So now we're back to the 'which is better for SQ, USB or S/PDIF' ???

😱

Is that true about SSH for the other versions of Daphile, or only the beta?

My left ear says USB is better but my right ear says S/PDIF .... 😀 (I have tried several "solutions": analog, Coax S/PDIF, Tos-Link, USB, but there is no real winner in my view)

As far as I know only the beta-versions have ssh-capability. You can log in but you're not able to change anything (image is a Read Only SquashFS).

Hi

I tried to install Daphile on a Lenovo thinkpad 420 laptop but I can't boot from the usb drive with Daphile. I have tried 3 different image writer program but still doesn't work. There seems to be a problem with Secured Boot function in the bios althought I have disable it. some people reported general difficulties installing linux on these thinkpads. the best result I got is a boot menu with usb drive is one of the option but nothing happen when I select it.

anyone has thought on this?

I also plan to buy an asus x205ta netbook to use with Daphile but I want to make sure that it works before I actually buy it. anyone experience with Asus laptop and Daphile?
