Fully agree. 👍It's very individual - what everyone likes.
As for me (AD1862 and TDA1541A)>>PCM56>PCM63>AD1865.
And of course, ahead of all this are AK4497, AK4499 (new), BD34301/352.
But for someone it may be opposite.
Alex.
what kind of beast is BD340301?What model commercial DAC with BD34301?
Look, my fiio dap has A4493 and i find it very very pleasing to my ears, so have huge expectations for the AK4499...It's very individual - what everyone likes.

What is different in sound nuances wrt TDA1541(a) ? (I do not say ad1862, since it is miles and miles ahead)
Tone, neutrality, coloring, definition, lack or excess of tones, what? And please, terms like "warm" "airy" "soundstage" "instrument positioning" are not accepted 😛😛😛
No, I don't have a CNC, but I have a friend with a CNC. 🤣wow man, do you have a cnc milling machine? I mean for the front panel
Even if I had a CNC machine, it wouldn't mean anything. 🤣
A4493 and i find it very very pleasing to my ears,
4493 is also good (not good as 97/99, but good), but I think it is not good to discuss it in topic of 1862.
I just wanted to say that some people like brunettes and others like blondes 🙂

Just did a couple of players containing PCM56's, cut the use of the internal opamp out, and redid the I/V. It sounded very good.@Alex, I too find the Pcm56/58 better than Pcm63 and AD1865.
I built a Miro PCM56 (tried along the way AD1856 & AD1860), and wasn't impressed until I put in an old Burson V5 and later an OPA1641A. It plays great with those two opamps, and the price is ridiculous with 1641A. It is limited to 16bit 96kHz, but with AK4113/4118 SPDIF receiver it would be a great upgrade for some mediocre CD/DVD player. Interestingly, the AD1856 sounds a bit brighter than the PCM56, even if it is a clone of PCM56. AD1860 is something in between and it is 18bit DAC.

OPA1656 with the dual/single adapter performed very well with the PCM1702. I didn't try with the other chips because I didn't have any more on hand. We also replaced the NE5532 in the Ayima A07 D class amplifier with a OPA1656 and the sound improved a lot. Great opamp and cheap ($3),
No, I don't have TDA, and for AD1865 I think OPA1655 will be good. However, it is a very fast opamp, with high GB, and you should be careful, check by oscilloscope because it can oscillate.
