@hirscwi I am not sure but it looks to me that FifoPi with RPi is somewhat universal and can output I2S specified for different DACs and the configuration is in the software (like in Volumio settings) 🙂
Check the settings provided by @zoom777 in his previous post. Select Target big depth = 32 (this should represent 64fs), but try Target sample rate give less, like 96 kHz. It can start play music after correct configuration 😊

Best in the socket from the DAC and OPAMPs and follow the schematic 🙂What are the locations on the DAC board to check for correct voltages?
DAC: pin 9 or 12 = GND, and voltages are pins 2, 4, 8, 16
OPAMP: pin 3 = GND, voltages are pins 4, 7
I think this transformer will work perfectly with the @Michelag for 6DJ8 tube IV but want to make sure before I order it.
AS-05T160 - 50VA 160V
The secondaries are 160V or 140V 0.15A with 2 x 6.3v 2A
I ordered the recommended transformer from Aliexpress, but they sent the wrong one.

No magic smoke and voltages are fine!!!
Can't believe it. My previous venture into DAC building, albeit years ago, did not go well (Subbu DAC).
Now I am a step closer to completion.
Yes, I suspect you are correct but I have yet to completely understand it. The FifoPi Ma works in master mode (as opposed to sync mode) and I don't fully understand the differences.@hirscwi I am not sure but it looks to me that FifoPi with RPi is somewhat universal and can output I2S specified for different DACs and the configuration is in the software (like in Volumio settings) 🙂

BUT, I had a suggestion from member Gizmo3 to add a plug-in to Volumio. It is the Fusion DSP plug-in. The settings used "convolution filters" "disabled effects" and sampling rate of 176,400 ++. It works like a charm but I don't know why. I'll try to learn more from Ian Canada...
Thanks for the continued support. I'm now working with the folded cascode CEN IV as the I/V converter. So far I really like this DAC - will try the AD1865 next...
Thank you.

Weird ! It sounded fine, I had two. One for reference and one I gave the mods here cause it was a little lifeless for my tastes, but that Vref asks the best as te ppower supply and decoupling choice ! My first smd project. A good chip that this ESS9023 ! The only difficulty was it is smd but nothing on the suregery side though, no harder than the shift registers in the ad1862 V1.3 board here !
You certainly learnt more than you think with it whatever the final result.

Any reasonable alternatives for the way back ordered TR1?SPDIF/Optical to I2S, almost THT, WM8804
Repaired (coupling capacitor in the SPDIF input is needed) ... otherwise it is the same as in the post #2139
Sorry for any inconvenience 😱

There are what appear to be some reasonable alternatives but that call is well above my training and education.

@dantwomey You can use any of them what you posted. The only difference is in the center-tap option - which is not used in design (pins are left open on the PCB) ... 78613/3C is fine 😊
One dac chip shows -.06V dc offset at the output. Moved them around, swapped opamps. No jls connected.
False alarm. Opamp weren't pushed deep into the socket. One dc is 0, another Channel +0.001 now
Wait. I using another recommended config:With the stacked board, you are actually ready for this power option:
View attachment 1343360
"provide external power supply to H3.17 and H3.19" is executed when you install J14 and short SJ3.
View attachment 1343362
This is the beauty of this board.
And then you do this:

Is there a difference between them?
