Actually for a while I thought I screwed into a water pipe because it sounded like leaking water when the crews were being pulled through from its own weight. And before someone ask, yes I used a drywall crew gun that sets the crews perfectly flush with the drywall. So for using it as a sandwich for speakers, it could be interesting on the results, but for remodeling I would use caution using it. I think the paper stuff is a lot better.
YMMV

Did you have your drywall-screw-gun dialed in at the correct setting (tip protrusion)? What was the screw distance in the field? Perhaps glue would have helped...
I've been told you can't use green-board on a ceiling, supposedly it can fall down... I've always used it with excellent results.
High performance half-inch or 5/8" is what I use for the most part.

Interesting! Maybe I got lucky with my ceiling repair, so far anyway.

Excellent post.
I can visualize why a horn is so effective: the air can't disperse and must conform to the movement of the diaphragm. This is a wonderful way to view sound-waves.
Thanks so very much!!!🙂

You are welcome, however its a major part of my job. its not that wonderful to me.
Any answer (my job) is a combo of logic and physics. The inital design of anything is principals then finding the damn parts that work according to what you designed around.

I only have 8 feet at the moment.
Oh well, it would be a good excuse to rearrange the room yet again.
BTW: I was expecting the correction on the bracing not being halfway and the one about the reflex chamber. After three edits trying to describe an ugly duckling I gave up.

Assuming 3/4in BB ply, the back-chamber (BLHs don't have compression chambers: the room is their CC) wouldn't benefit greatly from increasing the material thickness. Bracing it as Dave has shown in a recent 167 render would be fine. It's not that large a box. I'd avoid bracing in the mouths if possible or the waveguides would need redesigning & the aesthetics aren't great.
Exoskeleton for the mouths... i'm looking for the picture.

Yes the gun was dial in correctly and the only sheet I used was on the side wall. I had the green stuff left over from another project but I was short 1 sheet. Could not find the green stuff so used this paperless stuff. So this sheet was on the side wall and the screws were pulling through. The only thing I can think of was that the wall had a little bow to it and had enough pressure on the sheet to pull the screws through. But never had this problem with the paper stuff. I also used the paper stuff on the ceiling before with no problems. Well lets get back to speaker talk.

Thanks, John. I'll not be using this product for commercial applications if it's this unreliable. I'm a remodel carpenter and always have my eye out for new products.

I've always had reasonably good results dampening my cabinets with concrete board. Oddly enough, a little bit of resonance sounds pleasant to my ear. If the cabinet's too dead the music sounds a bit sterile. So, I'll dampen the larger panels first and gradually work into the smaller panels if required. I'm rather excited to hear this little fellow.
Also, it helps to have nonparallel surfaces--I'm planning to slant the outer panels 10 degrees.
Hi All,

I don't care how it sounds, looks beautiful.

I could care less about how it looks. To me its an industrial design.
