Collaborative Tapped horn project

dont know
whatever makes sense
maybe 35hz straight would be ok
or at least no less what is possible with 6th order BP
I have thought about a folding like this

btw, how steep is high pass rolloff slope generally for TH ?

ehh... 86liter ? isnt that very small for a TH ?
Not for one with a 94 dB sensitivity.
It will be a lot more than 86 liters when the wood is added in.

If you like a "natural" sounding bass guitar speaker, you will want to cross over from a TH to a front loaded speaker, the frequency and phase swings (even though they will be less than Hornresp predicts) do not sound good, even in comparison to something like the old Acoustic 360 folded horn bass cabinet.

I really don't know, honestly
maybe I just want to have fun and fold a piece of plywood 😀

am I green to this ?
absolutely, completely, 100%
but now you mention it
long before any was even built I asked about this 'principle' in another thread
old story my friend

abandon ?...what are you talking about 😕

I dunno man, you wrote it...
Absolutely right - from start my speakers were measured with the finest tools and software, and I was very disappointed to hear a saxophone or a violin fore that matter - it sounded like they vere playing in a concrete cellar, bloody awfull - after YEARS of adjustment by ear it now sounds almost right, almost - and I wouldnt dare measure them now

In my youth I only could afford cheap fullrange in horns, maybe it has been to some advantage, allthough if I return I might be disappointed :cannotbe:

Anyway a TH is basically a two octave device with a group delay peak at the top, if you want more bandwidth you should look at a T-TQWT, and it should be adequately dampened. bjorno would be a good guy to tap for a design IMO, and I would be happy to draw it up...

Thanks,
I'm not heckling you at all. I'm just working with what you provide.
bjorno uses MJK worksheets and other processes that differ in that resonance can be dampened, end result is that he can provide something with visual appeal... T-TQWT is also more HI-FI oriented in my view. If you were to characterize the sound of your sub via strengths and weakneses and back that up with measurements that would be HUGELY effective as a development tool. I know this is near impossible and not a serious request, moreso an explanation of logic. Did you build the/a large format/non-movable sub? If so may we have the details/measurements if available?

interested to hear what kind of TH you like, have built, or is using ?

still interested

no, I have never built a sub in my life
and yet; I do remember a very big triangular corner TL with 8" Dynaudio
unfortunately the plate amp was not yet invented
so it was never put in practical use
shame to think now it might actually have been good
well, whatever, I dont have any good corners to use now
