Cheap TPA3118D2 boards, modding them and everything that comes with it

Hmm, i always care who made "my" caps, especially on ceramics, dc-bias differs alot. You also want to know its ESR/ESL graphs to do the math.

But good find. I'd suggest to buy a full reel of brand name mlccs for decoupling. (like 100nF X7R 0603 50/100V) Costs about $20 for 4000 pcs. 😀

You are right about the SMT parts for some of the more critical apps. The 4000 piece reel is certainly a deal. I don't think I will ever build with all of those though.

Here is an example of what I am buying:

NEW 10 X 104J 104 0.1uf 100nf 100V CBB Capacitor-in Capacitors from Electronic Components & Supplies on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

94 cents for 10 pieces of 0.1uF 100v polyprop film caps.

Name brand Panasonic from Digikey is 34 cents ea (and only 50v), not including $2.50 shipping (via USPS, can add a lot more light parts for same price)

And check this out - I dare you to price something similar on Mouser/Digikey - it would be 10x more expensive.

90mm x 150mm double side FR4 fiber glass proto-board with solder pads $1.83 shipping included.

4) STOP, STOP, STOP using stupid abbreviations like "trafo" for transformer, IMO for in my opinion or other cute internet-speak, cell phone speak, or corporate-speak terms. Are we not still using English? Newbies? Tooooooo cutesy? Beginners perhaps? Neophytes perhaps. Pick a real word from the dictionary. And learn how to spell it.

There are a lot of beginners on this forum and a lot of foreigners who are not tuned in to all this secret lingo/language/jargon. Referring to a 4.7K ohm resistor? Would it kill people to write that instead of 4K7R? And for example when referring to a necessary capacitor or resistor, would it kill people to also explain what voltage or wattage is needed.

5) Finally....like I say, I realize there are a lot of foreigners here and I except you from this part of the rant since your English skills may not be as good as native speakers; but could people start spelling stuff correctly? There vs. their. Through vs. threw. Your vs. you're. Spelling the word resistor wrong. Come on! Resistor should never be spelled resister and especially on a DIY electronics forum. Use of the "word" Newbies? Tooooooo cutesy! Are we 9th grade Valley Girls? The word is beginners. Neophytes perhaps, or inexperienced. Stop all this.

It's getting so you can barely understand some of these posts with all the incomplete sentences, misspellings, and references to who knows what post?

Mark, I just read this but I think native english speakers from a certain region are the people that do the stuff you describe most. I see a lot of spelling errors and unclear abbreviations from native english speakers. Grammar seems to be taken out of the education programs 😉

"We" are not foreigners. This an international forum and english is chosen as a standard. You are as foreign on this forum as I am.

Well yes, this will be a lifetime buy. 😀

I'd ordered some of those CBB caps lastly, need to evaluate their performance.

Best thing i lastely bought is:

SN 28B Pin Crimping Tool 2.54mm 3.96mm 28 18AWG Crimper 0.25 1.0mm2 For Dupont-in Pliers from Home Improvement on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

Pretty descent quality for nearly all crimp contacts i use (except Picoblade), not comparable to the all available cheapers crimpers.

In combination with this stripper:

It's a good combo.

4K7R is standard and accepted terminology for 4.7kohm resistor. It is better because the decimal can't get lost in print, and it is more efficient - but it is not lazy jargon. It is actually printed on little SMT resistors (they leave off the R) as it is implied.
We do appreciate how you used to to track all the 3116 amp variants and gave them names. The flood gates then opened and then no one could keep up with all the variants.

I am still not sure where the Ybdz of the original Weiner amp came from? I still use that amp as my main amp.

That pin crimper looks nice, I have a similar one that I bought years ago (probably at 3x the price). I also have a Amphenol crimper I bought for work years ago that was close to $200. But that thing is a beast - it can crush the ferrule around anything and make it look good. 🙂 I would hate to think it can be used as a finger crusher for extracting info. 😱

Totally agree, and point taken

jean-paul,

Ha, my friend I totally agree. I had the native English speakers in mind when I was thinking of all the spelling errors, etc. Without getting into politics, I think Americans are getting too illiterate to run their own country!

And, excellent point about me being as much of a "foreigner" on this forum as you! Yes, so true!

I read your posts and you'll forget far more about this stuff than I'll ever know.

No offense was intended at all!

All the best,
Mark

Nice finds, X!

X,

Nice going! I had not thought of AliExpress for parts like caps and resistors, etc.

The shipping kills me on the big parts warehouses. $4 worth of stuff costs $11.95 to ship! I try to scrape up what I can on eBay with free shipping but this suggestion is like opening a window for some fresh air!

Thanks,
Mark

Those are nice, but they don't have multi-link force multiplier and ratchet action or interchangeable cavity dies like the Amphenol CTL-15.

CTL-15 - AMPHENOL RF - CRIMP TOOL | Newark element14

Ok, enough my crimpers are better than yours 🙂

They call $330+ for this? 😱 It's just the bigger version of the crimper i showed above with interchangable dies as well. (which costs down to $3)

Shame on you Amphenol..

Yes, I "went to town" today with a caps/resistors order of a dozen different parts and it totaled a whopping $18 for a boatload of parts 😀

I am loving it. Moreover, the search never turns up empty. I mean just type in "4.7uf 250v mkt" you never get what you want at the price you want this instantly on a big house search at Newark or Digikey.
