Well, here is a pic from my recently "finished" cdpro2. It sounds quite good, although I need to change some caps as they are not up to par with the rest of the components. The housing is being made and hopefully it`ll be ready somewhere in january.

Ok, here goes:

I have constructed all psu`s with wima mkp`s, and panasonic FC series caps. For the two 5v psu`s, I had to use some big caps, and i used BC components 308 series, I don`t think there very good. I also need to add some err coils? -the "L" thingies from a LCCLLCLCL thing-

I also uses some flat cable for all the wiring, so that also has to go, as I know it can be done better.

As far as the sound;

I have bass! loads of it! But, I think the perception of that is becauce the bass is much more defind. The soundstage is nice although there is no pinpointing on instruments -using the internal dac- What it does is separate the instrumentents, and it has a good quickness to the sound.

It sounds quite musical, and the separation, and quickness are the things that mostly striked me at first. I also like the much more analoge sound it produces, when comparing to my inky winky pathetic sony crap cd player.

I am very pleased, and I think adding better cable, coils, and a new clock will really give him a boost.

Btw, any one got advise for good 2mh coils? I say that Peter Daniel used coils that looked like a cap, and where white... Maybe those are good? I now have some from Conrad, and I don`t think they are good.

Here is my first prototype of my new cdpro2 control board, which I assembled tonight. It seems to be working so far. There were a couple of bugs in the pcb, relating to the lcd (wrong potentiometer footprint and wrong staggering of pins), and I will fix these issues for the next board run.

I had the boards all on a single sheet, so I did a non-quite-perfect cutting job on this board, but I am just happy that it seems to be working 😀

Notice the rotated potentiometers...... and the staggered pins......

very good job Brian

I hope I'll be able to carried out such a nice work. I'm still looking into your web site, trying to understand the schematics of this controller...

I'm looking forward to start the buidling, but I haven't enough time because of my job :bawling: :redhot:

Looks good but it seems that you should fit a new clock!
