Don't forget about Peter's players, which will hopefully take shape soon.
Anthony: you truly did a beautiful job.. keep on posting pictures in my gallery.

At the moment I subscribe to philosophy less is more, so my player is very tiny in order to avoid unwanted resonances. Since it's small, I can afford to make the whole chassis/frame out of copper. Three spikes provide footing. The rear panel is 1 x 1.5 copper bar as well.

Very nice Peter, as usual, this is the drive that is going in your new chassis with the ML top cover?
This drive looks older, it does not have the same hub our last shipment had.

Actually,this is the unit by itself.
The idea was born when thinking about implementing it into ML based chassis (with a lid) but later I figured it may well exist on it's own. I don't really think I need all that additional chassis parts and it makes for much more compact unit without them😉
Actually, it's pretty much inspired by 47Labs Flatfish. They make the base out of 3/4" aluminum plate with display on top (no cover, no chassis). I always liked this approach, especially after reading Stereophile review of YBA player that sounded better without the top cover. Also, one of my Swedish friends commented that his Krell CDP sounds better when cover was off. So there is something to minimalistic approach and I didn't have the resources to built my prototype out of copper block. But the idea of using copper bars was very appealing and this is how I made it. It provides enough mass and the size of the unit can be further reduced. So what you see in a pic is more or less the final look. Of course I will add some aluminum plates for more acceptable appearance. I am quite excited by this project, as this is something completely different to whatever I did so far.

Here is the latest photo of my progress on my CD Player, The legs are off in this shot as I am drilling them for Blue LED's so they will glow when the unit is powered on. The front panel will also glow blue, but will change to orange or red when the unit is paused. The Aluminum panels have been sanded to a satin finish and are ready for clear annodizing as has the plate the drive is mounted on. The lid has been sand blasted on the underside and is also sanded to a satin finish on the top side, though not completely finished. The buttons need to be engraved still and a final polish and wax is required on the Acrylic base to get it to a clear finish.

Looks great!!!!
But.... eh, should the surface above the cd not be a little less reflecting...? CD's are a bit transparent (hold one before a lightbulb) and a bit of the laserlight would go through and reflect back on the aluminium.
Don't know if it matters, gues you did check that it is working well :->
Just a thought..
Greetings,
@Coulomb
...looks fantastic, following up on Guido, opposite direction, with the transparent beautiful case, wouldn't a lot of ambient light fill up the detector, so the amps go to the limit. Did you try that?
It's an absolut nice work
cheers, gerhard

Greetings,
Thanks for the feedback Guido, as I mentioned it is yet to be anodized and the top cover will be Black Anodized.

The bay that the drive rests in is lined with a copper linning that will be sprayed black, the CD is enclosed in a tight light free box when the lid is shut, especially after I add the rubber O ring.
The mounting plate will also be black anodized, and possibly have Blue Led's mounted in it to flood the CD with incoherent blue light. Not sure if the Physics support an actual improvement, but there is no harm in trying, I have lots of aluminum in my shop.

Anthony
@Coulomb
I didn't know that - looks better than many I have seen, I mean the commercial ones.

Well thank you Gerhard, I am a big proponent of Audio Art in our hardware.
