Calling all clever people :) What do you make of this?

Anatech,

What can I say that I, and others, have not already said?

The belt speed exactly matches the wheel speed at all times.

The wheels are attached to the plane- their land 'speed' is measured via some sort of rotation measuring device which is fixed to the plane. This factors in wheel circumfrence and provides a 'speed' reading.

The belt is attached to the earth in a similar manner- the belt's 'speed' is measured relative to the earth, on which it sits.

If the speeds are to match in opposing directions, the plane is NOT free to move WRT the earth.

ok if you had a computer ... could it play a video game ? while burning a movie? i mean there are soooo many things that will determin if it will or not... ITS THE SAME STUPID question...

How do you know your computer isn't playing video games all the time, while you're busy burning a movie, surfing the web, whatever?

Eh . . . so, the contact point remains at the same position.
Meanwhile, the jet engine roars . . .
It creates moment force about the contact point . . .
The tail of the plane is lifted up . . .
The head of the plane is pressed down . . .
The head kiss the rotating belt . . .
Then, the plane body turns a somersault . . .

Awesome . . .

Actually, no. If the plane were to rotate about its axles, that would be equivalent to the wheels slowing their rotation. Therefore the speed-matching belt would slow to match this slowing and keep the plane level.

Yes, Awesome!

Hi v1d9uy,
:cop:
Given that this thread is under "Off Topic", it's in an area where the topics are not that serious in nature. We cut a little more slack here. We will not allow rude behaviour or personal attacks, but having fun is quite alright.

Edit: One day I'll be able to spell again.
