I would love this. It's my 6th time in San Francisco (time flies!) and I would be happy to see something different for a change@Gianluca - it's only about 20 miles up the freeway, so if you have extra time before or after BAF, you should check it out. Of course, then you might want to explore a few of the wonderful Sonoma County wineries if you can take the time.
Our neighbor does the paint touchup/restoration on many of the Peanuts character sculptures around the County, and we live about 10 minutes from the museum.
@petaluman - are you still in Petaluma? Would you like to collaborate with me to put together a list of places to go/things to see for those who have some extra time before or after BAF? I came up with a list last year, and then others added to it, but we might be able to get a big jump start on it together?
Greg
The BAF website has been updated to show 2024. More info will be added as we have it.

Is there some way to know quickly when tickets are ready for purchase? Want to make sure my son and I can make the build camp on Saturday morning, as we usually do.
Would love to see the other shrine too. The Pass Labs Factory shrine? While your at it, visit the shrine on Meyers Drive, off Steele Lane where I
grew up....
😉
Good point. I've never gone but I already booked my room. How do I make sure I can attend? Is there some way to know quickly when tickets are ready for purchase? Want to make sure my son and I can make the build camp on Saturday morning, as we usually do.
I personally like the ideal of having more than one display room, it gives the attendees more options and the participants more play time. Last year was great, one room for large systems and a room for smaller systems and displays.
As I have recently relocated from "back East" to the wild fires of Nor Cal, I actually have the chance to attend this year for the first time and am pretty stoked...but just tried to book at the Best Western and they are already sold out. How much should I be budgeting for this event? I need to start squirreling away my pennies. Wife has already approved the time away and can drive down the 3 hrs on Friday night after work, but gotta make a target budget. Help a newbie out with the inside skinny, tips and tricks etc.
Last year I had a car and stayed at the Quality Inn Sonoma, 2.9 miles away (Google Maps top view here). It was pleasant enough and there were at least a dozen other BAF2023 attendees at the same motel. It was easy to catch a ride back and forth.
Thanks Mark - and yes, I will be driving and can (will?) stay some distance away. I need some additional details about the itinerary so I can plan when to be where and also how much any/every thing will cost: tickets, raffles, camps (amp and/or speaker) et al. I can't make reservations if I can't actually afford this at this time. Guess I'll just wait on the details and plan on seeing y'all then. Thanks again.
Hi there! Tickets for attending are not that expensive. Amp camp and speaker camp are optional and we are working out those costs. Raffles don’t cost anything and you can haul away some really cool stuff. The only other cost is lunch and dinner.
I can tell you that they are full of awesomeness. Operative words are fun, easy, and low cost.

Disclaimer – I haven't stayed at any of these places. Places to stay in Petaluma include Motel 6, Quality Inn, Home2 Suites by Hilton, Hotel Petaluma, Metro Hotel and Café, Courtyard by Marriott, Hampton Inn, and Sheraton, in addition to the Best Western. There’s also a KOA campground.
The 2 closest towns are Novato to the south and Rohnert Park to the north - roughly 10 miles either way. Less pricey digs in those locations would include America’s Best Value Inn, Motel 6, Budget Inn, Inn at Rohnert Park, Inn Marin and Suites, Rodeway Inn Wine Country, and Days Inn. I believe there are also limited, luxury accommodations at the Graton Resort and Casino, if DIY is not a big enough gamble for you.
