Burning Amp 2024!

Thanks Mark - and yes, I will be driving and can (will?) stay some distance away. I need some additional details about the itinerary so I can plan when to be where and also how much any/every thing will cost: tickets, raffles, camps (amp and/or speaker) et al. I can't make reservations if I can't actually afford this at this time. Guess I'll just wait on the details and plan on seeing y'all then. Thanks again.
It’s usually cheaper to book a room well in advance, often you can cancel the reservation at no cost with sufficient notice -it makes sense to book something now before rates go up. Later if the budget doesn’t work out or if you find a better alternative cancel the room, just don’t forget! I did that once and felt very dumb.

Well, after lots of energy and effort I've got the WAF thumbs up. I had to barter a trip to visit Alcatraz, which seemed like a steal of a deal to me. Plane tickets secured, lodging shouldn't be a big deal. I'll be arriving early enough to help out with any setup on Friday and tear-down Sunday so I'll be looking for how to contribute as a minion for the leads running the show.

Very excited to have the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful event!!!

Oh, well, on our recent trip to the Puget Sound... by the time we hit Torrance I wondered where my wallet was.... It was Friday at 11:30AM, usually light traffic.

Well, just our luck, it took us almost 1 1/2 hours to get back to the OC on the 405.... traffic felt like 6PM, not 11:30AM.

So, our first leg of the trip from The OC to Weed, usually 9 hours that time of the day/year took us 12 hours.

But I did bring my wallet.

T-shirts?

Sunday 01 Sept 2024: Ten minutes ago, I attempted to reserve a room at the Petaluma Best Western hotel near the Burning Amp venue. Unfortunately their website took all of my information including credit card number, THEN told me the room I was trying to book (King) was sold out. So I tried my second choice (2xQueen) and it was sold out too. So I tried my third choice (1xQueen) and it was sold out too. This became tiresome so I quit trying.

Next I booked at the Sonoma Quality Inn - Petaluma, 2.8 miles up the road. I'll have a car so this is not a deal killer. Rooms were available and the reservation process was smooth and simple. Prices for a 2-night stay were $100 less than the Best Western too. Best of all, they have a generous cancellation policy, while Best Western sternly warns you the reservation is NONREFUNDABLE.

Thank you Best Western, for encouraging me to do business with your competitor! Here's what I'm paying for (1 King Bed, 2 nights, No Smoking) at the Quality Inn, including all otherwise-hidden fees. OBTW they gave me a nice discount for being a member of the AAA auto club.
