Hi
Your cabinets are looking very nice.
I now have the case for my cabinets cut out.
I used the materials that I was able to get. The face is going to be 1-3/4” bamboo, The rest of the case will be 1-1/2” MDF. The internal bracing will be 1” MDF, but I have not received that material yet.
I had some trouble cutting two of the side panels. As I was feeding it through the table saw, it started to come off the fence a bit, but I could not correct it. I pushed the board back through to see how much of a separation I had, the top half looks good but as you get to the bottom half it tapers to have 1/4”+ Gap; The other side has about a 3/16” Gap at the bottom. I did not have the extra material to cut these panels with fresh stock. I am going to have to repair it. I am hoping I will have a shim that will fit, that I can glue in.
I will attach some pictures, will you please comment on what you think I can do.
you can see where I marked up the two panels where are the issue is, for reference.

I would be grateful if anyone would tell me which Tweeter you chose and why, please?
Well, to tell the truth, I chose the Viawave cause I could find it in the second hand market! And, because of the amazing reviews and... because of the optics, it looks sweet!

I hope that Viawave are doing fine. I guess russian companys have difficult time these days... such a shame...

Great job BTW, I am happy to see your sticking to it!

Yes!!! 😀

Inspirational weekend coming up? https://www.highendsociety.de/high-end-44.html
(Sadly I could not find Silbatone among the exhibitors...)
Thanks Wesayso, great that I can count on your enthusiasm! 👍👍👍

Yes, munich is coming at last! I´ll be there friday, saturday... It could be cool making a thread on it and share some photos... I think I´ll do that.

Silbaton are always presented with W.E aren´t they? I´ll try to sneak one of them in my suitcase.
Although Kondo will be my first choice... ho man... at least dreaming doesn´t cost a dime.

I like the 'divided into section' look of sides on your last simulation ( including the top parts). It makes the loudspeaker less monolithik to my eyes.

Damn, veneered they'll look great in dark exotic wood!
I wonder how it could look like with an european walnut i recently seen, which was quite darkish with nice broad pattern...

Top 2 upper picture left and middle bottom... that makes it less massive and highly exotic.
Indeed, dark and we've talked about walnut before (lol).

And a small brass logo stuck on the speaker grille near a bottom corner, to offset the separate super tweeter (with brass holder 😉)
3D printing can do a lot these days (I'd use commercial printer services, not filament).

Any particular reason you prefer to use a guide instead of a circle jig to route the recess? I am still puzzled at the most efficient and precise way to do this recessed hole in speaker.
For the inner circle I'll use this

since it's quick and dirty... doesn't have to be precise

For the outer circle I usually build jigs as in photo... it gives me a better sense of security. And I get more constant results

I see that you are using the Viawave GRT-145-4 tweeter.
why didn’t you use the Visaton TL 16H?
Or, Buy a used Fostex FT96H?
The TL16H is a great super tweeter and is the one I always use. Overall they sound more transparent than most planars and even some electrostats. The dispersion is even halfway decent. They need to be crossed way north of 7k IMO to get the best out of them.
