Absolutely, prices are nuts! I still enjoy looking at the craftsmanship and inspire to reach those stratosphere...Imagine the price of development, permits and licences needed to make it legally airborne...
I hope the trip there inspires you to come up with a cool tweeter housing to go on top...
The "party hat" better be good looking, right?
Have fun, do check out Silbatone Acoustics if they have a display this year....

Me to. First impulse always is "what an amazing device", but when ratio kicks in... It's an emotional roller-coaster 🙂
Wesayso, I have just listened to it. I think you have me converted 😉I hope the trip there inspires you to come up with a cool tweeter housing to go on top...

I am familiar with silbatone room in Munich. Isn't it the big room full of super rare gear that a Japanese gentleman brings every year? Transport of those rare western electrics must cost a fortune!
Talk about crazy prices... that old WE gear is priced into the stratosphere...
But it is pretty special, if you think about what they knew back then in the early 30's.
Indeed, it's that Japanese gentleman with his collection of super rare WE gear. I've never heard
or seen it, but when in Munich 🙂.
A while ago we had a thread about that old gear and it's charm almost 100 years later...
This one is more to my liking:

The speakers themselves have quite an industrial look to them though...
far removed from the polished and clean look of the Living Voice...
But that sound sure shows us the pioneers of this hobby knew a thing or two...
The High End Munich, that's in May right?

Yes, starting at 19.5 to 21.5The High End Munich, that's in May right?
It's really is a treat 😌, if you can make it happen, go for it.

Talking about the devil, big speakers, an article that just went online. I am now considering moving to Japan!

Working on a fine symbol for the TL1. I came up with the Rune R.
Raidō "ride, journey" is the reconstructed Proto-Germanic name of the r- rune of the Elder Futhark ᚱ.
The meaning is spot on! and this speaker deserve somthing posh yet meaningfull. it does resambles the Warner-brothers logo thou....
And seems like this is where the loudspeaker firm Raidho too their name.
It is going to be carved in Brass. and the ring between upper and lower cabinet will also be in Brass... and maybe the foot as well.

Thanks krivium! Exactly what I opted for.La classe!
( discreet and elegant)
There is another slightly pointed version... but that's just being picky
I prefer less picky.
Can't wait to see pictures of them finished!
You'll use perspex/acrylique for super tweeter stand?

Yes, I think you are righ, the first seems to be a bit more elegant.I prefer less picky.

I have started playing with the super tweeter, but still no luck. Maybe acryl stand would be enough.
WOW A 31” Woofer!
I thought the 10” looked small next to the 18” woofer.😳
+ all of those horns. And Ribbon tweeters.
I would like some advice on the design of the front panel of the speaker, please.
As I mentioned previously, I cannot get Baltic Birch - or HDF and black MDF in adequate thickness.
So far, I have settled on using 1-3/4” bamboo for the front panel, 1-1/2” MDF for the case and 1” MDF for the braces.
My friend who built the TL-1 used 1-1/2” baltic Birch throughout. I know that he typically makes his design decisions empirically, through listening. Also, I have seen comments from others who have built this speaker saying they would have liked to have used a thicker material. What do you think of this as a materials list? I figured, I have to order the materials, so I might as well order the larger thickness MDF.
My question is regarding how to modify my current design. On the computer, I have the speaker drawn and all of the parts dimensioned and laid out on sheets.
The current designed case material is 1 inch, if I increase the case material to 1 1/2 inches, the question is, how do I compensate for this extra thickness? Do I leave all of the interior dimensions the same and make the face of the speaker and other case dimensions 1 inch bigger? Or, do I leave the exterior dimensions the same and make the interior smaller?
Being lazy, it would be easier to make the exterior bigger and leave the interior the same.
I see that the vertical dimension from the center of the 18”; 10”; & horn is a Constant. I do not see a hard dimension to the vertical center of the super tweeter. Can I extend the face of the speaker up 1/2”? And each side out 1/2” and the bottom down 1/2”?
Would it be better to push in from the sides and decrease the base volume?

The size of the front panel and the layout of the drivers are Holy= you can't/shouldn't make changes to them.
Increasing or decreasing inner volume is also a taboo.
Best way to deal with it is changing cabinet depth. 😉
