Building process - The loudspeaker 1

Thanks for the clarification. In that case you must adhere to baffle width and CTC spacing in drivers and axial setbacks. Even changing round overs may affect the XO. That is quite limiting from design perspective.

Absolutely. from the back I came with something pretty fancy, but the front is so big and plane... wish I could make it round or something.
I'll end up listening to them from the back 😀

It's been a looong day, but I think I've got something.

The Behind look sexy to me, and the front is just as Troels intended it to be.
If I'll get it right (Living voice-quality) this speaker might be dead gorgeous 😛

What do you think?

That does break up the fridge look, well done 🙂.
And still leaves room for a super tweeter on top should you want or need it.
That should bring up another opportunity for that Living Voice class...
That is, without screaming it, which I like.

In a second look, it looks a bit like a grumpy old bear 🙄 and the super tweeter probably won't do it any good as well. but, ho the hell with it, going to be awesome all the same 😀

Don't stress so much about keeping the shape at the front, especially if you are only streamlining it. There are misunderstandings about the ways diffraction affects a crossover.. but generally speaking if cabinet rounding reduces it, it is a good thing.

Totally, yet I am not allowed to change the front. If I did, it would screw with frequency response.... And I'll need a new crossover.

I thought maybe somehow doing something with cloth but as for now I'm clueless.

Yes, that was my point with the "front grille sketches". 😀
I suppose the horn will not be affected much by the baffle due to the directivity, but the midrange will. So changing the baffle top end may be ok.

As for now, the living voice vox project is my inspiration. I foresee disagreement on the aesthetic side but one thing is clear, the vox project is the most perfect, implacable wood working I've seen anywhere!

Really great veneer and finish woodwork on those, still the most impressive part (crafted part) of the loudspeaker is the casted badge. My guess is that you could 3D print a bronze part (w/bronze or brass filament) to achieve something similar.

It's just one of those added details that say: "money". 🙂

If you are planning to post a lot of pictures I suggest you attach them instead of in-line them as clicking an in-lined picture takes you to a new page which makes up for a tiresome viewing effort. Try to make it work like in post #28.
