I am using the passive Version. Level 1.Du you use the passive or active version? And what amp do you use?
I have replaced the Jantzen resistors for the new mundorf ultra resistors
This crossover wouldn't pass any border control.
As for the amp, I'm using Line Magnetic with Russian tubes
I would recommend this amp to anyone, fantastic little thing. Similar to my First watt J2, yet with more body and thicker texture sound.
BTW, sory to be a bit sketchy but, has someone tried to damp his Horn using sticky ace bandage?
Waveguides I have can be quite resonant freestanding, they ring quite a lot tapping by finger, aluminium and plastic ones. But that all goes away when tightened to a baffle. You should damp them more with something if you wish, but not sure whats the most effective way, or if it makes any difference. That ACE -stuff seems nice to apply, but does it dampen?
Even after tightening the horn to the baffle I could notice ringing by tapping it. I just bought those cohesive sport bandages, I guess one can apply quite a lot of force=damping. I'll try it out.Waveguides I have can be quite resonant freestanding, they ring quite a lot tapping by finger, aluminium and plastic ones. But that all goes away when tightened to a baffle. I wonder how long they retain the elasticity and stickiness? Perhaps long enough. How about using just a rope? On my prototype freestanding devices I've just tied old t-shirt around it, tight knot so similar function, not as pretty though 🙂

I also wondered about the durability and almost asked the poor lady at the drug store.... almostI wonder how long they retain the elasticity and stickiness? Perhaps long enough. Seen this?
Richard Feynman about how rubber bands work. He is my absolute favorite inspiration for imagining and reasoning stuff out 🙂
edit. while some basic rubberbands seem to deteriorate quite fast there seem to be also immortal rubberbands https://www.businessinsider.com/graphene-unbreakable-rubber-bands-2017-8?r=US&IR=T
So, I say just put bandage in and try out. Perhaps it lasts as long as the speaker in a way that when ever there is time for TLC also the bandage could be changed or swapped to something else. Its routine to fix old microphones for example, to replace rotten foam. Not best case scenario but not too bad either.
If there is risk a loose end can droop and rub a woofer cone below (I don't remember if the waveguide had its own compartment ) then secure the loose end somehow so that if it unsticks during the years it doesn't create additional problems.

Those boards look really great!
Which ones are the Mundorf Ultra resistors, please?
What are you using the heatsinks on?
Are you using the tag strips on the underside of the board?

Maybe you can try Alubutyl.BTW, sory to be a bit sketchy but, has someone tried to damp his Horn using sticky ace bandage?

The big Red heat sink are for the smallish mundorf ultra resistors. Those boards look really great!

I bought them since Magico are using them in the a5 speakers and are writing:
" In addition, the crossover debuts Mundorf’s new M-Resist Ultra foil resistors for unmatched transparency, liquidity and power handling."
Since I still have a soft spot for magico, I had to try it for myself.
For damping the horn:

I really don't know. But level 1 is loaded with fancy copper capacitors and the resistors are a bit... well, plain. So I just replaced those in the signal path for the tweeter and horn... if it supposed to make a difference then, it will make a difference in this erea.Is there a big gain in upgrading to mundorf ultra resistors?
I just been painting first coat of colorand what I got is-
Eeeeeeviiiilllll, I present you Darth Vader

Yep, clear coat on everything and that's it for color, I'm done ✔ next stop, putting everything together

are these the set of speakers for your client, or do you intent to put veneer on top of the black lacquer?

Those are the speakers for my client. The color in reality is much much darker. Think Dark coal. Batman was never really my thing... but if he had a speaker, that would be it.
