Sad news: Jeff Bridges Reveals lymphoma
"As the Dude would say.. New S**T has come to light. I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. ...I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I’m starting treatment..."
(lymphoma, linfoma, Lymphom, lymphome, リンパ腫, limfóma, лимфома)
going from balanced MoFo to Circlotron you gain the inductors but you need 4 floating PSU
Balanced MoFo you could do 2 channels with one PSU referenced to round
Do you think that a balanced MoFo would sound like a circlotron?

The Circlotron I built was some 30 odd years ago, from what I remember it sounded quite good.
I like my Mega Mo, but it's not balanced; the two are completely different beasts, it wouldn't be fair to comment.

A balanced configuration would cancel the 2nd harmonics.
yes I am afraid of this.
Hi XRK
i know the Mother of MOFO. what ixys mosfet part number you have used. PM me the details. Also the VGS limitation is 20v on both sides. how do you overcome the large ciss of those big fat mosfet?
Regards.
Is there a way to get a one of the "enclosed" (honeycomb style chassis) or open frame MeanWell SMPSs to output 18-20v?
I just want to build a standard ~19v MoFo, but in a single chassis, and without having to figure out where to put 2 big laptop PS bricks. They would be very noticable from the listening position (the living room couch) with my setup...and likely would not make the wife too happy.
All I can find of the Meanwell SMPSs that are meant to go inside another chassis are 15 or 24v models. Is there an easy way to adjust the output voltage on any of them?
And what is the PFC function they mention in their specs?

You can adjust 24V Meanwell (USP-225-24) to 19V-26V. It has a voltage adjustment pot. You can get one for very low price on Ebay.
I don't know. Anyway, it may not reach to 19.0V. My unit reached a little higher than 19.0V, I remember. Somewhere between 19 and 20V.
Also, has anyone had success using the ACP+ with the MoFo? I know most people say you need a high gain preamp with the MoFo, and the ACP+ is relatively low gain. So maybe that's my answer.
My speakers are 6 ohms, 88dB/W.
