Dear all, having looked at the current Excel file, I feel the options aren't clear to me, so apologies if I caused some confusion.

Column D is for assembled SMD versions of the board. This is the board assembled with the SMD components, but no assembly of PTH components or Hypex regulators.

Column E is for the Hypex regs. This is separate from PCBs. Put a number here if you want to have the regulators supplied too (not soldered). This is in addition to a number in column D.

Few examples:
Code:
 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
|Col D | Col E | Meaning |
| SMD | Hypex | |
|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
| 2 | 0 | Two boards assembled, no Hypex regs |
| 2 | 1 | Two boards assembled, 1 set of Hypex regs (for one board) |
| 2 | 2 | Two boards assembled, two sets of regs (for both boards) |
| 2 | 3 | Two boards assembled, 3 sets of regs (2 for PCBs + 1 spare)|
 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

You are not doing single boards (stereo)?

Hypex says: if you buy 100 ea of the pos and neg reg they will be € 10.20 each. That's a discount of more than 65% I think.

Jan
Thanks for asking Jan. I guess I was hoping too much for a better price than buying 10 🙂

Edited to add that ends up being around £17+VAT for a pair with absorbing the UPS shipping costs from Holland to UK.

1 for one pair, or rather one per PCB. That's with me assuming no one would want just one rail regulated à la Hypex and not both.

Having researched the PTH components, I would prefer to duck out of doing it. It would add considerable cost that I cannot necessarily finance, especially with the ELNA caps. Plus, people might have a preference anyway, so it's easier for me to leave those bits out.

Dare I ask if anyone has DBT those vs std 7812/7912 in this circuit?

The price is good, but with 3 boards minimum that's an extra €60 🙁

I tested my preamp with three regulators: 7812/7912, LM317/337 (TO-92 on a PCB of the HxR size), and Hypex HxR.
The differences in the noise measured at the power amp speaker terminals (26db gain) were very small (must search for the data).
Subjectively, I did not hear any differences either.

Regards,
Braca

It depends on how much are you willing to spend. The diy power reg is not cheap too))

Tfboy, could you please help me to add 2x hypes regs to the spreadsheet
