Brilliancy in Sport, Your favourite moments

Fortunately or Unfortunately, my Virgin mobile phone contract does not let me access dubious sites. These people think I am a Child. Which I may be. 😱

Uncle Jack was barred from Goodwood Saturday due to the horrible virus. But with tremendous resource managed to watch the Races from a safe distance above with his Binos.

Not a darned Horse there that I fancied:

I am still licking my wounds from Jim Crowley and Battaash's tremendous 5F romp on Friday, a record time:

Way I see it, is Glass Slippers and Ornate are tremendous sprinters just for living in that Field. Always the next race.

I haven't quite figured out when Glass Slippers is next running.

But AFAIK, 100-1 third place Ornate is going in the Beverley Bullet on August 29. Sprint Trainer Kevin Ryan fancies Dobbin's chances.

I fancy a fiver on Ornate. Otherwise this horse is horsemeat. As you say.

It used to be mostly Canadian league with mostly Canadian players, and now is a mostly US league with mostly European players.
Oh come now Mr T. It's still more than 50% Canucks.
But roller hockey (with a tennis ball)
On this side of the pond we play with a hockey ball. STREET HOCKEY BALL HARD
– National Sports

It is played in lacrosse boxes outdoors and ice arenas during the summer months.
There's no real 'bounce' to it and it feels about half as bad as getting hit by a puck. Thing is, you often wear heavy padding on the ice whereby you can wear shorts playing ball hockey so the pain can be the same. Pucks break bones, balls break skin.

I have a feeling you will delete this post using your magical moderator powers, Mr. Weldon. 😱

But let me mention that "Rocket" Ronnie O'Sullivan continues to win Snooker matches in under 2 hours:

But asked to name a famous Canadian, the man on the Clapahm Omnibus might only mention that his wife chose a Celine Deon record for his wedding dance.

After that he would struggle. Oh wait. Wasn't there the second slowest Snooker player in the World? Cliff Thorburn?

"Slow and determined" was a polite adjective for his venue-emptying ability. Only "Slow and Cautious, but elegant" Terry Griffiths was his equal.

I think they once played each other. The commentator drily introduced the match: "Terry Griffiths against Cliff Thorburn... what a thrilling prospect!" 🙄

That what I played as a youth, on roller skates, quads not blades lol.
It was hard to play with a light bouncing tennis ball, but good fun.
I never played with a real hockey ball, and no idea how light or heavy they are, so thanks for the knowledge!

There is a huge list of famous Canadians.

Like Lorne Greene, Mike Myers, Leslie Nielsen, Mary Pickford, Keanu Reeves, Donald & Kiefer Sutherland, Willian Shatner, James Cameron, David Cronenberg in the film industry.

Paul Anka, Michael Bublé, Nelly Furtado, Daniel Lanois, Alanis Morisette, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Pat Travers, Shania Twain, Neil Young in the music industry. (I'm not going to mention Justin Bieber...ooops I did)

This is just a tiny selection.

It's not Cal's fault that the guy on the Clapham bus is an idiot.

A few years ago I saw a documentary about doping.

The guy who did the tests back then kept the samples of all participants in that race and retested them with modern technology.
The highest placed clean athlete placed 5th.

I find Ben Johnson far more forgivable than Justine Bieber and Carling Black Label.

I was very fond of Lennox Lewis and Greg Rusedski.

But TBH I was more a friend of Boxer Frank Bruno, who used to date my next door neighbour. Me and Frank had a good chat at the notorious Pink Party next door. Everybody except me was a bit scared of a huge 6' 3" black man. But we had a good rap. Know what I mean, 'Arry?

But nobody likes a cheat. Nobody liked the White Sox and shoeless Joe Jackson in 1919. We Brits find it hard to forgive Maradona's "Hand of God" goal either.

I still admire Keith Houchen for his single moment of brilliance:

Of course, it was Oggy to Cyrille to the Hooch, then to Benno and back to the Hooch. I knew that Coventry team. 🙂
