Hi,
Armand Duplantis beat his own world record at 6,22m (!) in front of Renaud Lavillenie at Clermont Ferrand meeting this day ('Perche all stars'). Duplantis have clearly 6.3m at reach. Impressive. Mr Lavillenie was emotional! Great relationship of these athletes, pole vault is an example of good behavior.
Kurtis Marschall bring a second place in the concours and a new personal record at 5,91m (and a new Australian record too).

Me and my friends are seeking a considerable Sporting and Financial Coup against "Da Bookies" , as usual!
It's all right now, about the Horse Racing Grand National, Aintree 17.05, Saturday April 15th 2023. I have a quid EW on Delta Work:
https://www.skysports.com/racing/form-profiles/horse/952933/delta-work-fr
I can't see much stopping this spectacular Nag from Victory at my 10-1!
However, I never underestimate Irish jumpers trainer Willie Mullins' entries. 14-1 on Gaillard du Mesnil. Got it too. OK that's £4.
https://www.skysports.com/racing/form-profiles/horse/1065099/gaillard-du-mesnil-fr
But just for entertainment, my friends and I have noticed that the "World's Worst Racehorse" is in the Field. This is the horse the jockeys fear. Pure Malevolent evil.
https://www.skysports.com/racing/form-profiles/horse/1057993/gin-on-lime-fr
We, however, have decided to bet the house on "Gin on Lime" and whoever is brave enough to ride this evil horse! I am thus up to £5 exposure.
I have said enough. 🙂

When it comes to pole vault it is hard not to mention Sergey Bubka.Hi,

He set 17 outdoor and 18 indoor world records ranging from 5.81m to 6.15m and won 6 world championships in a row and lost the world record only once to Thierry Vigneron in '84 but claimed it back on his very next attempt. His indoor record of 6.15m stood for over 20 years.
There is only One Sport that appeals to a Rampant Capitalist like myself:
You got it! The cruel mayhem that is HORSE RACING! This being the "Grand National" in 2023.
An opportunity to make money just by studying the FORM in "The Racing Post".
Obviously I made a significant return on my E/W Bet on "Gaillard Du Mesnil" which came third in the top Aintree jumps race after the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Helped that I followed Jockey Harry Skelton with two winners earlier.
My riches multiplied today. My good friend Clare seemed to have the inside line on near-lunchtime Races. She recommended a Win Double on "Polyphonic" at Ffos Las and "Vitralite" at Yarmouth.
I was dubious. I went for straight WINS!
My strategy was best. Vitralite came in at 15/8 at Yarmouth. Polyphonic came a poor 11/8 second at Ffos Las.
I gave her the promised 10% of my winnings. 15p!
The Icing on the Cake appeared in the big money 17.25 at Punchestown:
No way would I get excited about a 2/7 favourite like "Energumene". Not many people know this, but "Chacun Pour Soi" won this race in 2021.
I had it Each Way! I always like horses with French names. A Winner and a long-odds Place in three races is a good days work in my opinion. I have doubled my money today.
Roll on the 2000 and 1000 Guineas. The first two of the 5 Classic English Flat 3-y-o Races for 2023. I am feeling lucky. 🙂

My feelings about the 2000 Guineas were justified:
Chaldean and Frankie Dettori romped home in a tight finish.
I quite thought I was good for the 1000 Guineas too:
Alas, it was not to be:
Tahiyra was not quite at her best. But a First and a Second is not a bad Day's work. I came out ahead.
I think I know who will win the Derby. Military Order:
But a place on Dubai Mile is justified, IMO.

TST - “The Soccer Tournament”
Why do they do this? Get beat by boys & some old guys. The women looked like they were standing still.
(Wrexham AFC -League 2)

US Women NATIONAL Team vs FC Dallas U15 academy team (under 15 meaning 14 year old boys and under -schoolboys/kids)

The best women's soccer team on the planet- USA (well they say so) beaten by schoolboys.

There is no more gripping Sportsmen's Game than the Cricket, England v. Australia IMO! In which fast balls get aimed at your head!
My Ozzie Uncle, Bill Ponsford legged it off to Australia, and had a pretty good career in Australian Cricket and Baseball:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Ponsford
Opening with the legendary Donald Bradman.
But in the long run, well I hope so, the English Mother country will prevail:
Excellent Start by England:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/65930121
It's unheard of for a side to declare on the First Day!
What a series! Naturally I expect Oz to fight back. 😀

Immense Excitement in the system7 Sporting Household tonight. 7 is my lucky number!
Why? Well we seem to have a level Cricket Match with Australia. Just need to knock down 7 Ozzie Wickets for less than 200 on Tuesday!
England Soccer team knocked down 7 goals against the respectable North Macedonia side! Saka was outstanding!
Finally, 7 top class horseraces at Royal Ascot tomorrow!
Personally, I am on Cadillac. Just sounds like a fast and stylish sort of Horse.
Might be more interested in "Reach for the Moon" on Wednesday. Her Maj had high hopes for that horse before injury. And remember, always gamble responsibly. 50p stakes for me.

Another day at Royal Ascot! A highly successful Meeting for me!
TBH, I didn't see that particular one coming. Aw, Shucks!
But Desert Hero's pedigree is undeniable:
Today being a new day, I am on the PYLEDRIVER. A horse that I like.
An affordable £2 at 4-1:
Here's the Form for interested parties:
Quite pleased old adversary Hukum has been pulled. I only now fear Free Wind. But will be in profit whatever happens. 🙂

PYLEDRIVER Wins! West Wind Blows Second!

I saw it coming! You people could learn a thing or two about The Horses!
I am buzzing. Sometimes, I amaze myself. 😀

Some Weekends are better than others...
A decent horserace on Saturday, July 8 2023. A mere £750,000 on this one in prize money!
West Wind Blows getting another run-out after a decent second-place failure against the solid PYLEDRIVER!
This time in a shorter race. I can't see it really.
Can't see Dubai Honour pulling off a Miracle either.
NO. It's between Filly Emily Upjohn and Colt Paddington. Surely Irish 2000 Guineas One Mile winner Paddington will win with a 7 pound weight allowance! It usually goes the other way. And Aidan O'Brien seems to have rediscovered his touch this year.
My firm betting tip. Quids on! Though I think it will be shorter than evens on the day. Quite excited about this race! 😀

I think I must be some sort of Genius when it comes to the Horses! Like Aidan O'Brien!
Paddington romped it, though at 8/11, I scarcely felt any great need to nip down to Da Bookies to make a Financial Gain.
The result:
In fact all the connections ended up happy. All winning some Cash.
But Paddington is clearly an outstanding Horse:
Rumoured to be dropping back to a Mile distance in the Goodwood Sussex Stakes next. We must wait and see.

Without question, Australia winning the America's Cup in 1983 - I watched it live on TV 🙂.

AW, Mate. You are SO living in the past! This is like 40 years ago.
Haven't you heard that the Mother Country of England is on your tail!
2 Cricket tests to go. TBH, I see it drawn, because the Weather will doubtless play a part, but an excellent Series in the offing. 😀

I cannot deny it, I definitely yearn for the "good old days". 🙂
Losing Nathan Lyon to injury is a blow to our chances of retaining the Ashes, but if Mitch Marsh replaces David Warner for the fourth Test then who knows? It's not over until the final Over… 🙂
(Incidentally, the winged-keel Australia II yacht was built under top secrecy in a very modest boatyard just 2 km from where I lived at the time).
